Micah Ray?

Thoughts please? We have had a lot of support from our Dads Raymond & Michael and would like to honour them but as a variation of their names.

PS: We don’t like Raymond or Michael as first names!

I like it but would probably go for Micky Ray (sounding like Mikki) or I'd have them both as middle names and pick a first name I really liked x

Rae is a Scottish surname but is used as a middle name for girls.
Micah Ray does sound a bit unisex.

I really like Raymond and Michael as first names, but if you are honouring your fathers, use their names, not names that are similar, otherwise you are telling them that their actual names weren't good enough.

Sorry but I'm of the school of thought that any hyphenated names sound incredibly common.

@Bloomburger I don’t think they’re hyphenating it, Ray is the middle name.

I love Micah but I don't think it goes brilliantly with Ray.

Micah and Ray are both boys names. I don't know why people are suggesting this might be for a girl.

Honestly? Not a fan...a) I wouldn't know if your child was a boy or girl from looking at the name written down, b) it's clunky sounding (and Ray/Rae is very overused as a middle name 🤷‍♀️) and c) it doesn't actually do what you intended in the first place anyway ...because neither names are those of your DF/FIL!

(My own opinion, which doesn't even count but you asked, is that I just don't like either name actually. Mainly because of 'b' above...they sound clunky together...Micah sounds made-up...and Ray/Rae is just overused now, in the same way as May/Mae is as a middle name. Like...we can't be bothered to try anymore so we'll just add that on!)

I must say that while I think 'Micah Ray' strongly suggests quad bikes and a profusion of gold jewellery, I don't understand why anyone would think it's a girl's name? Micah is a Jewish prophet. There's, like, a load of sportsmen called Micah including one who played for Man City until quite recently. It's obviously a male name.

If you love the name use it. It’s not to my taste.

Umm I do like Micah, but the combination really sounds like 'microwave' to me. Sorry.

Assume it’s a boy, but if girl you could think of their initials M, R and go for Emma 😄

It's definitely a boy name but I prefer Michael Ray or Michael Raymond

I would assume it was a girl as I only know females Micahs and Ray is unisex.
