Thoughts on Tristan for a boy? We live in NI if that's any relevance but I don't think it is lol.

I've always liked it.

Onestepup · 04/08/2020 00:17

Love it.

bridgetreilly · 04/08/2020 00:21

I really like it.

Ellmau · 04/08/2020 00:31

Nice.

Bingobongo1 · 04/08/2020 00:42

First thing I thought of was all creatures great and small (but that's not a bad thing and I suspect only people of a certain age would know of him).
I like the name.

DramaAlpaca · 04/08/2020 00:56

@Bingobongo1 yes me too, I had a real crush on Tristan in the books as a young teenager Blush Grin

sageandroses · 04/08/2020 00:58

I'm not fond of it, I know a few little boys with the name and it just doesn't suit any of them (to me). I picture an Australian blonde surfer dude called Tristan Grin

Do you know my friend? He’s an Australian called Tristan. He likes to think he can surf but I’ve seen him and he’s not that good. 🤣 I love his name though.

Whatsyourflava · 04/08/2020 07:41

I LOVE it. It's a great name, one of my favourites

Orphlids · 04/08/2020 09:31

Love it. So romantic. If you haven’t already, have a listen to the prelude to Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde - the most thrillingly erotic piece of music. I love a name with a bit of history. I wish we’d had the opportunity to use it!

One of Chris Hemsworth's sons is called Tristan.
CourtneyLurve · 04/08/2020 09:37

Oh, and I love it!

EhUp · 04/08/2020 09:39

I don't like it but can give no rational reason for my dislike

Oneandabean · 04/08/2020 09:39

I love it, was on my list but clashes with the surname

2Kidsinatrenchcoat · 04/08/2020 09:48

I love it

Onceuponatimethen · 04/08/2020 09:53

No - not for me (sorry!)

Frazzled2207 · 04/08/2020 10:05

we seriously considered it. In the end we decided it sounded a bit too public school-y. Which isn't necessarily the end of the world but we live in a very un-posh Northern city.

It does scream a bit posh rugby boy to me, but in NI you might have completely different connotations. Nice name.

Luckingfovely · 04/08/2020 10:07

Love it!

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 04/08/2020 10:10

I think Tristan is a great name

Thymeout · 04/08/2020 10:31

I think it's in the same category as Tarquin. A joke-name. Code for upper-class twit.

OK if you move in upper-class/or would-be upper-class circles, but a bit difficult to carry off if not.

Onceuponatimethen · 04/08/2020 10:53

Agree @Thymeout it is from the same stable as Rupert, Guy, Sebastian, Piers and Nigel

Onceuponatimethen · 04/08/2020 10:54

Tristan is a banker who has charm and great looks. He drives a Land Rover and has a wife called Camilla. He probably went to Eton

Onceuponatimethen · 04/08/2020 10:55

His best man was called Hugo

Honeyroar · 04/08/2020 10:56

I’ve got a lovely friend called Tristan. We all call him Tris. I like it.

Honeyroar · 04/08/2020 10:57

My Tristan isn’t remotely upper class and he’s an air steward!😀
