Our little girl is due in October! She'll be known as Posey/Posy/Posie Which spelling do you prefer?

This will be the shortened version of her full name, Primrose. Not to everyone's taste I know but it's a family name and I love it! Too late to change our mind now as we have personalised goodies already so please don't tell me if you hate it ;)

Posy. If you spell it Posie, everyone will get the spelling wrong. I personally prefer the ie version, but my DGC has the problem as the name ends in ie, but even nursery has written it with a y on everything.

Posie

Peachbubble · 03/08/2020 13:17

Posy

rachelrainbow · 03/08/2020 13:29

Thanks so much everyone! Seems like Posy is the one most people like. Think it's my fave too :)

If short for Primrose then Posey.

emmathedilemma · 03/08/2020 16:16

Proudtocare · 03/08/2020 19:12

Definitely Posy!

PrincessLouis · 03/08/2020 23:27

Posy like Ballet Shoes or Posy Simmons

timetest · 03/08/2020 23:29

Posy. Such a lovely name.

ArtichokeAardvark · 03/08/2020 23:30

Posy. I know a Posy whose real name is Flora. I love the name, but DH vetoed. Sad

AllNewThings · 03/08/2020 23:31

I have a Posy. It does get misspelled quite a lot though.

DramaAlpaca · 03/08/2020 23:33

Posy, like a sweet bunch of flowers and Posy Fossil in Ballet Shoes.

Posie looks silly and Posey is just wrong.

Ellmau · 04/08/2020 00:32

Posy.

Posey looks as if she's posing all the time, and Posie is a bit too cutesy.

Hepcat75 · 04/08/2020 00:42

Never seen it spelt Posey or Posie. Looks weirdly adjectival. 'Posy' as in 'Ballet Shoes', every time. It's a gorgeous name and I wish I'd gone into bat for it more. Not to say I don't love my daughter's name, but 'Posy' is fab. Rare enough to be unusual, but not too 'outre'.

sorryforswearing · 04/08/2020 00:48

I think she’ll get Rosy Posy as an endearment when she’s little. I’d spell it Posy.

Mumratheevergiving · 04/08/2020 00:50

Posy is very sweet for a young child. Primrose is nice and it gives her the option to go by Rose or Rosie as she gets older.

Hamm87 · 04/08/2020 00:59

none she will probably end up a prim haha love the full name hate shortened names

EmpressJKRowlingSpartacus · 04/08/2020 06:27

I think ‘sweet’ or ‘cute’ names are generally a bloody awful idea for anyone over 3, but nowadays I associate Posie with Posie Parker of www.standingforwomen.com/, aka Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull, & she’s neither sweet nor cute. She’s a warrior.

Literaryseed · 04/08/2020 06:46

Posy. Beautiful x

OldFloweryCardigan · 04/08/2020 08:42

I think it's Posy, as in a small bunch of flowers. Very pretty name.

Lavenderblues · 04/08/2020 08:47

She may well go by Prim or Primmie when older.

Hepcat75 · 04/08/2020 08:51

I don't care for Primrose. I was never a huge fan, but since Shipman, it's been ineluctably associated (for me) to his wife. Who, as well as being in denial about his guilt, was a big woman. Lordy.
