Hello, I am due baby boy no 3 in October and struggling with names. Initially both my husband and i really liked Phoenix until we shared it with family who all hated it :) I know it should n't matter but did put me off it. I also like short gender neutral names. One we were thinking of which is alot more common and simple but still like is Sam or Sammy. Our other boys are Theo and Jesse. Wondered peoples thoughts on Sam or Sammy. Not keen on Samuel or Samson etc.

I have a Samuel who is called Sammy all the time, can't imagine him even being a Sam. I've never come across another child called Sammy so like the fact that it's unusual but not too out there
BoyMumno3 · 31/07/2020 13:12
Thanks for reply 😁yes You don’t hear Sammy too often. It’s really cute.
FluffyEggsontoast · 31/07/2020 13:13
I actually like Phoenix
You might find your family get used to jt
Also love Sam/Sammy
How about Laurence /Laurie
FluffyEggsontoast · 31/07/2020 13:14
No I only know one Sam but no Sammy's - it's lovely OP
Ricekrispie22 · 31/07/2020 13:49
Not very keen on Sam. I prefer Sammy, but wouldn’t register a child as Sammy.
How about:

Robin
Drew
Sasha
Oakley
Madison
Lennox
Harley
Hayden

I have a Samuel who was sammy as a baby, but now he's 15 he's definitely just Sam, sammy just seems to cutesy for a strapping teenage boy. However I do know a 7 year old boy called sami
BoyMumno3 · 31/07/2020 15:12
😁Thanks will keep it on the list.
BoyMumno3 · 31/07/2020 15:13
Oh brill thanks for list. Out of curiosity why wouldn’t you register Sammy? X
BoyMumno3 · 31/07/2020 15:15
Thanks for list! Yes think prefer Sammy too x
BoyMumno3 · 31/07/2020 15:16
Thanks for list x
BoyMumno3 · 31/07/2020 15:16
Yes did think might shorten to Sam when he’s older. X
daisypond · 31/07/2020 15:37
Sam is better than Sammy. Sammy is OK for a small child but not as a registered name.
123Dancewithme · 31/07/2020 16:39
If you don’t like Samuel then I’d register him as Sam. Sammy seems too cutesy for an official name.
BoyMumno3 · 31/07/2020 18:58
Thanks for reply’s guys! Dare I ask thoughts on Phoenix?😁not sure why we liked it so much originally but has stuck in our heads.
MikeUniformMike · 31/07/2020 19:02
Phoenix - no.
Sam or Sammy - both great
Our other boys are Theo and Jesse. - neither are my taste but not my DS.
Lelophants · 31/07/2020 19:06
Jesse is cool
honeybmain · 01/08/2020 01:46
Sammy is adorable!
DramaAlpaca · 01/08/2020 01:48
I don't like Phoenix, it's too 'out there' for me.
I do like Sam, but not Samuel. You could register him as Sam on the BC and call him Sammy.
user327253 · 01/08/2020 01:50
I like Phoenix, I've known two of them over the years so it doesn't sound too out there to me.
I'm not keen on Sam but what about Samson instead of Samuel? I prefer Sammy to Sam. Benji is a good variant on Benjamin instead of Ben too.
Theo is nice but way overused now. Every other boy seems to be Theo or Leo or Teddy.
user327253 · 01/08/2020 01:51
Oh sorry, I somehow didn't register you saying you didn't like Samson .
VenusClapTrap · 01/08/2020 06:26
Sam is a great standalone name and you can use Sammy as a nickname when he’s little.
Phoenix - no. I know one and it doesn’t suit him at all. He is quiet and introverted and it just seems like too much of an attention seeking name for him.
daisypond · 01/08/2020 07:48
Not Phoenix. It’s too much. Felix?
BoyMumno3 · 01/08/2020 18:48
Thanks for the feedback guys! Really helped. Will most likely go with Sammy 😁xxx
Puffalicious · 01/08/2020 18:50
I have an ex who was Kit, I love this. I have a Cal (Calum on birth certificate) and love it.
