What names do you LOVE but would never use?

(And I don't mean you wouldn't use because there are close family members etc who have the name. I mean more that you absolutely love, but don't have the balls to use)

Mine is....

Demetrious.

I have known a few in my time and absolutely love the name, but not sure I could do it...

Clementine is a bit naff and is in the same genre as ‘Tarquin’ for me (pretentious middle class).

Clementine (I’ve also seen DS’s name on here!)

I am shocked at some of these.
My DC names have appeared. And they aren’t the only ones we know.
I know several Clementines and would have used it for my DD if I hadn’t known the others.
I also know an Orson, Persephone, Loreli, winter, Lavender, January, Walter and atticus (and a scout !).
No one thinks these are brave here. I am sad that people haven’t chosen them when them love them.
Yes we also have a sea of Ellie, Millie, Izzy, Alfie , Archie and Oscars etc. But no one bats at eye at any of these ‘brave’ ones.

Just looked again and realised I know 2 X Rafferys, 2 x Raffael, Cosmo, Verity and 2 x Lucien.
Are all these seen as Brave choices?

My DS has one of these names! It never gets mentioned on these threads, so I'm pleased to hear someone loves it. I chose it because I was quite young and naive - I just thought about the names I liked the sound of, rather than what others would think about it. But it's nice to know that other people might be thinking that I was 'brave' for using it Grin.

Rhodri - love it but no Welsh heritage.
Rufus - love it but it would be inaccurate as any child of mine would be highly unlikely to have red hair!

Star and Damon. Not really out there as such but wouldn't ever use!

@GorillaManilla I know a Tarquin and I can confirm he is very much UC. I think you have to be to pull it off to be fair.

As is most definitely not pretentious middle class. Mummy would be horrified.

No, you don't have to be any 'class' to be named Clementine or Tarquin or any other name!

I don't understand all this need for 'bravery' either?
