I love Lenny for a girl but I couldn’t cope with the comments ‘isn’t that a boys name’ Blush

It wouldn't have been you who would have to cope with the comments, it would have been the daughter.

@JaJaDingDong

Dave is a nice name
You beat me to it! Mike might be another option.

Or maybe just go with a nice woman's name like Elizabeth?

Hank
Barry
Norman

Harriet (Harry)?
Most others I'd think of have been mentioned.

I would personally choose a more feminine/not masculinised longer name on BC and choose to use more masculine nn so that they can choose to have a more girly nn if they choose growing up as they may otherwise resent it. I think I would have!

Loren

Oh dear- I gave my daughter one of these names without purposefully looking for a boys name. Have I set her up for a lifetime of people presuming she is a boy before they meet her?
I suppose at the very least she won't be subject to unconscious sexist bias Wink

Billy is bad enough for a boy never mind a girl.

thefaceofboe my 7 year old niece has a good friend called Lenny and I think it’s lovely !! It’s short for Helena.

Thefaceofboe · 26/07/2020 19:39

@aprilfools19 aw that’s sweet. I was think Eleanor but I really like Helena.

Noa?

I personally think boys names are becoming more feminine. It’s just a more subtle change. They are following the ‘ee’ trend we see with Evie, Lily etc that has always been a more consistent feature of girls names.
Freddie, Reggie, Frankie, Albie for example. Just look at some old name lists and you can see the difference.

Call your daughter whatever you like! I have a boys name, always loved it. No one called my mum sexist or stoned her in the street.

Boris?

Wilhelmina NN Willy (can't get much more masculine than that 🤣)

My sister is a Jamie, people do assume before they meet her but I can't say they've ever been confused afterwards!

Not classically masculine but in my mind these have a definite feel:
Adrienne
Brodie
Derri
Drew
Francesca NN Frankie
Georgia/e
Hayden
Jamie
Peta
Quinn
Raye
Terri
Xanthe
