Orange is nicer.

DrDetriment · 21/07/2020 16:51

Please don't.

countrygirl99 · 21/07/2020 16:52

Very popular for horses.

Soubriquet · 21/07/2020 16:53

Can you imagine a 10 year old Blue?

A 15 year old Blue?

A 39 year old Blue?

If yes and you feel that he would be ok with his name then yes.

If you can’t see past the toddler Blue, the no. A name is for life not just for babies

Somuchroom · 21/07/2020 16:54

I like it.

WendyHoused · 21/07/2020 16:54

Puce?
Vermillion?

Chartreuse is probably a girl, so I'd avoid that.

cliffdiver · 21/07/2020 16:54

For a dog, not a human.

Finfintytint · 21/07/2020 16:56

We did have a fish called Blue.

Deardonkey · 21/07/2020 16:56

I immediately think of Blues Clues

Just awful

ThatLibraryMiss · 21/07/2020 16:59

I know a Blue and he's lovely; calm, patient and such beautiful eyes. He's a golden retriever, a gorgeous boy.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 21/07/2020 17:01

What is going on with ridiculous names today? I mean they are always a bit ridiculous on MN, but seriously what are people thinking?

RatherBeRiding · 21/07/2020 17:01

I've known a lot of Blues - but they've all been horses.

SoupDragon · 21/07/2020 17:06

You're naming a person, not a pet.

I’ve noticed

A lot of twin names too Hmm

RaraRachael · 21/07/2020 17:15

Where I live there are quite a few Blues - fathers are Rangers supporters.

There is even a Bleu but it's pronounced Blue Grin

Ridiculous "name"

cameocat · 21/07/2020 17:19

I knew a female blue many years ago (I was a child and she was an elderly lady).

It isn't a name for my taste.

Fairenuff · 21/07/2020 17:21

It just sounds a bit 'bleurgh'.

Bloo. It just sounds like a noise. Like Joey speaking French.

It's a no from me.

PawPatrolMakesMeDrink · 21/07/2020 17:31

It’s ok for a raptor.

captainraymondholt · 21/07/2020 17:34

My personal taste in names is pretty classic. But I don't think Blue is awful. I wouldn't bat an eyelid if I met one (admittedly living in London means we see a more interesting range of names). I really love Gray as a name so Blue or Red don't seem completely outlandish. I can't think of other colour names I like though.

JaJaDingDong · 21/07/2020 18:27

If you're Welsh you'd pronounce it Blew. Be warned.

RedRumTheHorse · 21/07/2020 18:31

This

Your child needs to get a job in future and if they are in some professions their CV will go in the bin. So they won't be able to become Chairperson of Tescos, IBM or Natwest because their CV didn't even make it past the first stage.

ivfdreaming · 21/07/2020 18:37

Somewhere between chavvy and downmarket or new money pretentious

At most it's a dog or cats name

It is NOT a child's

For gods sake imagine your child grown up with a professional job having that name

ArseyWelshNameBore · 21/07/2020 19:12

Red is nicer, and won't cause pronunciation issues if you go to Wales.

cptartapp · 21/07/2020 19:21

As in dodgy movies? No way.
