Ffion, Alys or Lydia

We like these three girls names, have a surname similar to Davey so I prefer names without an e or y sound at the end.

Babies sex is unknown but we have no boys names at all.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

We are in Wales (and welsh) our son has an welsh name but it’s easily pronounced and recognised in England so something of a similar vein would be nice.

Any suggestions lovely people?

All lovely, think first two go better with your surname.

NotDoinNuffin · 18/07/2020 20:31

Of those my favourite is Ffion. Also love Alys, but might face a lifetime of correcting the spelling.

For girls, how about...
Elin
Catrin
Eleri

For boys...
Elis
Tomos
Gruffydd
Osian

I prefer Lydia from your list, also think it sounds lovely Davies, so would work with a similar surname.

Davey even, bloody autocorrect

AnnaSW1 · 18/07/2020 20:36

I much prefer Lydia

SoMuchToBits · 18/07/2020 20:47

I like Alys and if you are in Wales that should be easy to pronounce/spell for most people. For boys names, Aled or Bryn are easy to pronounce.

Tillygetsit · 18/07/2020 23:13

Love Alys. I will probably be told it's dreadfully old fashioned but I worked with a lovely man called Emrys and have been fond of the name ever since.

Onestepup · 18/07/2020 23:41

Alys is lovely and goes nicely with your surname. I also like Lydia but there's too much D when combined with your surname.

EuphieKat · 19/07/2020 00:07

I love the name Alys.

FizzyGreenWater · 19/07/2020 00:43

Not a fan of Lydia. Bit fussy and just reminds me of Pride&Prej Lydia so I think of it as a silly, sly name!

rhia22 · 19/07/2020 00:51

Just wanted to say I LOVE the name Ffion, it was my top girls name! (but I'm having a boy) I'm a Rhiannon living in NE england and enjoy having an unusual but nice welsh name so definitely a vote for the name Ffion haha c

DoorbellsSleighbellsSchnitzel · 19/07/2020 00:55

Top choice Alys, then Lydia.

MikeUniformMike · 19/07/2020 06:32

Lydia will be Lyds.
Ffion and Alys seem very popular on here but are nice.

Aled and Bryn are both nice, but Bryn is a bit of a middle-aged man's name.

flooredbored · 19/07/2020 06:57

Lydia

FizzyGreenWater · 19/07/2020 10:59

Oh and yes to Lydia ending up as Lyds or Lid!

Not great.

Don't love either Alys or Ffion but they're nice.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 19/07/2020 11:08

I love Alys ❤️

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 19/07/2020 11:12

Love Alys, but then I might be biased!

Flappingflamingo · 19/07/2020 11:40

Ffion or lydia

MikeUniformMike · 19/07/2020 11:43

Love name, but then I might be biased, it's my DC's name.

Why do people say this? I don't get it, surely you picked the name because you liked it, not started to like it after you named the DC.

CaffiSaliMali · 19/07/2020 13:49

Alys
Ffion
Lydia

In that order.

Alys is on my list. Ffion would be on my list if there wasn't already one in the family!

Eira, Mari, Morwenna and Tesni are the other main names on my girls list.

Lydia is very pretty, but I would stick with the Welsh theme.

bridgetreilly · 19/07/2020 14:16

Ffion.

CaffiSaliMali · 19/07/2020 14:49

Just realised that you have no boys names so I'll suggest some.

As we seem to have similar tastes, my list is:
Tomos
Osian
Macsen

Owen
Owain
Aled
Alun
Aneurin/Aneirin
Taliesin
Emrys
Emlyn
Eifion
Gwyn
Gwilym
Gwion
Geraint
Idris
Iestyn
Ieuan
Hefin
Rhisiart
Rhodri

AdaColeman · 19/07/2020 14:51

ImOnTheWrongPlanet · 19/07/2020 14:51

Ffion. Love it.
