Bugger - I don't like any boys' names

I realise this sounds ridiculous, but I've realised that I don't actually like very many boys' names - and the ones I do like are either a bit too out there or DH has vetoed.

Can you please help me think of names along the lines of the following...

Zachary
Xander
Xavier
Orion
Leonard
Leonardo
Leo
Ray
Jesse
Galileo (dh actually laughed out loud at this one)
Rafe
Constantine
Artemis
Apollo
Archer
Sirius
Silas
Tobias
William
Arthur
Oscar
Sebastian
Rory
Dexter
Leander

I basically like names of Mythological Greek murderers, x-men, Victorian fops, or ninja turtles.

@SilverOtter there's nothing like having a second child to remind yourself that a) you like precisely two names, and b) how many people you've met and hated 😂

I’m really scared my DC3 is a boy and I like no names!!
Actually, I love Jude and Cole (Charmed Grin) but DH hates them.
I wish you luck (and me!)

@Slat3 I genuinely didn't care if it was a girl or a boy, but.... another girl would have been EXTREMELY useful as I have a list of names, and a load of clothes I could have reused.

(We're keeping all tops, leggings etc and only ditching the dresses. I'm pretty woke, but as a child whose mum dressed her as a boy for the first three years of her life due to gender disappointment, I just couldn't)

Woah your mum dressed you as a boy for 3 years due to gender dissapointment @AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings !! Did she admit that to you? That's very honest of her. Were you the first child or did she have lots of girls in a row. That must have been tough for you to hear x

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 16/07/2020 20:24

@PlantPotting I was the first child - but have a brother a year younger than me 😂

She's an unusual character, that's for sure.

Having the same problem here, 2 weeks left and no boys name :) I may suggest Hector to DH. just tested on one of the kids and was told 'f7ck no' so actually might not :) Appreciating everyones suggestions aswell though :)

sibbys · 16/07/2020 21:57

We're having a girl and we don't love any girl names.

Have my boy name: Rufus crying emoji

AudTheDeepMinded · 16/07/2020 22:02

Clarence (Clary)
Neville (Nev)
Percival (Percy)
Algernon (Al)
Ernest (Ernie)
Bartholomew (Barty)

I detest surnames as first names and shortened traditional names (eg Bobby, Billy, Sammy, Tommy, Jimmy). Give 'em the option of a reasonable mature sounding name for their professional adult life!

This has probably totally outed me!

AudTheDeepMinded · 16/07/2020 22:03

Also 'Samson' is nice.

betard · 16/07/2020 22:09

Sid

@sibbys Would you like our girl names as a trade?

Theodora
Rosa
Ruby
Elizabeth
Cecelia
Tabitha

^the few I can think of now

@AudTheDeepMinded don't think that's too outing - I also hate the surname as first name trend. Makes me cringe. Agree mostly with the nickname things too, but with a few exceptions- names like Toby, Ben, Jake etc.

A lot of suggestions here from Zebedee to Gavin.

And only two people have called me a twat so far, which is actually the most positive response I've seen on a name thread for a while.

This is probably a sign that you guys understand what I mean because you've....

Named most of my friends' kids
Named my siblings
Named a good chunk of my cousins
Named half the people I work with
Named half the people I've dated
Named the guy I lost my virginity too 😂

So a lot of those names are off the table, sadly
