Bugger - I don't like any boys' names

I realise this sounds ridiculous, but I've realised that I don't actually like very many boys' names - and the ones I do like are either a bit too out there or DH has vetoed.

Can you please help me think of names along the lines of the following...

Zachary
Xander
Xavier
Orion
Leonard
Leonardo
Leo
Ray
Jesse
Galileo (dh actually laughed out loud at this one)
Rafe
Constantine
Artemis
Apollo
Archer
Sirius
Silas
Tobias
William
Arthur
Oscar
Sebastian
Rory
Dexter
Leander

I basically like names of Mythological Greek murderers, x-men, Victorian fops, or ninja turtles.

Lol! 😂

Anordinarymum · 14/07/2020 02:18
@Anordinarymum Genuinely curious what you mean by that. None of the OP’s list seem that outlandish to me. None are particularly common these days, but certainly not on a par with Zebedee or Twinkie-Winkie anything!

I’m interested to understand your take on them. Many of them are very traditional old school names Confused
Julius? Really ? The poor child

ElaineMarieBenes · 14/07/2020 02:28

Rudi
Logan
John

PineconeOfDoom · 14/07/2020 02:35

I think I like your DH Grin

Otis
Seth
Milo
I quite like Cyril but appreciate that’s probably a minority opinion

Grinchlywords · 14/07/2020 02:39

Robin
Guy
Julian
Christopher

Julius? Really ? The poor child

What on earth is wrong with Julius? I honestly can't see any issues with it.

It's not like William that makes get get teased with Willy, and it doesn't rhyme with anything obvious.

I know an adult Julius (as well as many Julias)

bumpitybumpbump · 14/07/2020 07:17

Decimus?

There was an architect in the 1800s who built a lot of houses in Tunbridge Wells called Decimus - and then there's the gladiator connection you DH might like?

We called our Landrover Defender Decimus and I always loved it!

daisypond · 14/07/2020 07:28

Julius is great.
Julian
Lucien
Lucas
John is good.
Alban

MillyMolly123 · 14/07/2020 07:29
@millymolly23 I've actually suggested zebedee! Zeb for short. But was shot down so fast that I didn't dare include it on this list 😂

He said that it sounds like a speech impediment.
Each to their own, I guess Wink

It’s a perfectly good, not too popular, but not too out-there, solid name to me. We all like different things I guess. Maybe I would consider some of the names you would choose as pretty bad also.

Out of interest, what names do you like?

Post above is for @Anordinarymum

“Quote” function didn’t work first time round!

Louise0701 · 14/07/2020 07:39

What about Archer if you both like Arthur?
Or Zephan? Shortened to Zeph?

Sunbird24 · 14/07/2020 07:47

I worked with an Orion a few years ago, he was a really nice guy...

LostInTheColonies · 14/07/2020 07:50

Peregrine? Nn Perry would be good!
Kester
Jago
Iolo

DoTheNextRightThing · 14/07/2020 07:58

So I need a name that's more exciting than George but less exciting than Zack. And is basically Arthur, as that's the one name he likes.

Artie? Archie? Anders? Andre? Archer? Atticus?

mylittleavalon · 14/07/2020 08:07

Gilbert? Fitzwilliam?

MsJuniper · 14/07/2020 08:10

I came to suggest Kester, just beaten to it by Lostinthecolonies.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 14/07/2020 08:14

Hugo

Or if he likes Arthur, stay Arthurian with Gawain / Gavin, Elyan, Erec, Geraint, Gareth, Lucius, Owain / Owen, Percival, Tristan?

TimeWastingButFun · 14/07/2020 08:14

Judas
😂😂

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 14/07/2020 08:14

Oh and Keir

ZaZathecat · 14/07/2020 08:40

As Xander is short for Alexander, will your DH accept Alexander and you can still refer to him as Xander?

ICantBelieveThisNameWasntTaken · 14/07/2020 09:19

Hmm, I think Anordinarymum might be having people on, here. Julius wasn't even on OP's list of names, it was Milly's suggestion, so I don't see why it's getting scrutinised Hmm. Looks like you're getting there though, OP! Whatever name you choose I think you'll both grow to love. Nothing I've seen here has been too outlandish. My mum is a teacher, she's seen the lot. Including one that was (genuinely) lovingly named after an STD Blush
