Primrose or Penelope?

We just can’t decide between these names! Our surname begins with P and we’d love for her name to be alliterative! I think my personal preference is Primrose which surprises me as it’s so girly!

Primrose shortenings- Prim, Rose, Posy

Penelope shortenings- Penny, Nel

Penelope, I just live that name.

Unless your surname is Pitstop.

BiscuitLover3679 · 12/07/2020 13:25

Primrose

MikeUniformMike · 12/07/2020 13:26

Primrose is a bit prim and I don't love Penelope, but it is the better of the two.

How about Polly unless your surname is Parrott?

Grufallosfriends · 12/07/2020 13:27

I prefer Primrose.

Aria20 · 12/07/2020 13:31

Primrose is too prim! Penny is nicer or Polly!
Persephone nn Persey/Percy?
Patricia nn Patsy?

I personally really don't like primrose but love Penelope x

LemonLapin · 12/07/2020 13:40

Penelope is lovely. Primrose is awful.

FizzyGreenWater · 12/07/2020 13:43

Primrose should work but it really really doesn't - it sounds weird, uptight, and yes Prim! Would you really want your DD to be called Prim?!

If you want something a bit more out there than Penelope, Primrose isn't it.

DramaAlpaca · 12/07/2020 13:45

Penelope by a long way, it's so lovely.

I'm sorry, but Primrose is horrible. Shortened to Prim? Really?

Whatsyourflava · 12/07/2020 13:51

Penelope by a long way
Great name

sweetnosugar · 12/07/2020 14:10

I know lots of little Penelope’s so for me its lovely, but overused where I live.
I really like Primrose, yet to meet one!

BeMorePacific · 12/07/2020 14:31

I like both!
Maybe sway more to Penelope x

mummy2myJJ · 12/07/2020 15:34

Penelope for definite😍

Peachbubble · 12/07/2020 15:38

I choose Primrose

AntiHop · 12/07/2020 15:40

Definitely not primrose due to the negative word prim. Nel/Penelope is lovely.

PlanDeRaccordement · 12/07/2020 15:43

Don’t do Primrose.

Really really don't like primrose I'm sorry so it would have to be penelope, but I prefer philippa

daisypond · 12/07/2020 16:32

I like both. Would never shorten Primrose to Prim, though

20viona · 12/07/2020 16:35

Penelope. Primrose is wishy washy.

Chirpychirpy3 · 12/07/2020 16:57

Penelope.
I really dislike Primrose

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 12/07/2020 17:45

Not keen on either but, if so had to commit, would take Penelope over Primrose....

BlusteryLake · 12/07/2020 17:57

In my mind, Primrose is a librarian in her fifties who wears a twinset and tortoiseshell glasses! How about Persephone, Phoebe or Petra?

sibbys · 12/07/2020 18:18

Penny/Penelope ❤️

GoshHashana · 12/07/2020 20:23

I've never understood the popularity of Penelope. It sounds like a wet fish flapping about on a dock.

Primrose is much nicer.

LotusClover · 12/07/2020 20:59

Sorry, neither. Primrose is way too prissy and pretentious-sounding, and Penelope is too P-heavy with the surname (as well as one of my least favourite girls names - I don't find it nice to look at and I really dislike the sound. I can't understand why it's so popular).
