Marnie

I'm currently really liking the name Marnie but I can't decide if it sounds too much like a nickname or if it's ok as a stand-alone name. Would be grateful for other people's views! If we had a longer name on the birth certificate do you think Marina or Margaret (or something else) would work better?

The other possible name contender at the moment is Jemima...

I absolutely adore it. No more kids for me but if I was to have a girl this tops my list.

Yankathebear · 10/07/2020 22:31

It’s gorgeous! I know an older (late 60’s) Marnie.

laura0390 · 10/07/2020 22:32

I really like it

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/07/2020 22:32

Love it, either as standalone or short for Marianne?

kb16 · 10/07/2020 22:33

Love marnie this was on my list If I had a girl Smile

sweetnosugar · 10/07/2020 22:38

Love it! Definitely go with Marnie. ☺️
It’s perfectly fine as a stand alone name. 💗

nzeire · 10/07/2020 22:39

My neighbour is a marnie! Best name, love it!!!!

Destroyedpeople · 10/07/2020 22:39

I really like it. Cool and cute at the same time.

Randomfires · 10/07/2020 22:41

It’s quite New York suburb sounding but I think I like it

DeborahAlisonphillipa · 10/07/2020 22:43

I love it too. It’s so unlike the other names I used and like but it’s somehow a winner for me.

AGirlCalledJohnny · 10/07/2020 22:46

I love it too. I would go with Marianne and use it as a nickname

thenightsky · 10/07/2020 22:46

Lovely name. Reminds me of the Alfred Hitchcock film with the ice cool blonde Tippi Hedren.

abigailwendover · 10/07/2020 23:02

Oh wow! Very positive feedback ❤️ Thanks everyone.

Adore it @abigailwendover one of my favourite names. I'd use it as a name in its own right and not ruin it. It's perfect as it is.

ILoveStickers · 11/07/2020 06:38

It's nice, but I watched the film the other week and it's incredibly dark! Not sure how I feel about the name now...

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 11/07/2020 06:40

Really lovely. Ds3 would have been Marnie, probably with Marina on the bc.

seriousandloyal · 11/07/2020 06:58

I love it, beautiful name

Manteo · 11/07/2020 07:10

It's a bit too cutesy/nicknamey for me. Very trendy too so will sound dated in the years to come.

Wecandothis99 · 11/07/2020 07:38

Cute. Also sounds a bit dog like tho

LajesticVantrashell · 11/07/2020 08:11

My DS would have been Marnie if he were a girl. I love it.

GoshHashana · 11/07/2020 10:28

Marnie has always struck me as a "try-hard" name - not sure why. Margaret is gorgeous.

Mumma4262 · 11/07/2020 13:06

I love it!

It’s one of my favourite girls names!

Thistlegirl4 · 11/07/2020 13:10

Marnie by itself is fine and a lovely name.

MikeUniformMike · 11/07/2020 13:19

Hitchcock film.
Up to you whether to use it on it's own or as short for Marina.

uselessdiyer · 11/07/2020 13:22

I think it's lovely, I'm actually going to add it to my list for future if I have a girl. The only thing that puts me off though is it reminds me Marnie from geordie shore but that may be because she is from my area so people are more likely to compare it than if you're not from that area. If that makes sense.
