Couldn't sleep last night. We had settled on Penny for third and last child but in my sleepless hours I remembered that the disgusting clown from IT is named Pennywise. Now I can't get that out of my head and the name is completely ruined for me.

Can you please help me find a name that has the same feel as Penny. We like Daisy too, but I really found Penny a bit cooler and not so cutesy compared to Daisy.

You don't have to suggest Penelope as Penny would have been the full first name. Grin

I don't know why naming our 3rd child is so hard! Envy

As long as your surname isn't Wise or Weiss, you're probably ok with Penny.

I think you’re fine tbh as long as your last name doesn’t sound anything like Wise.

By the time your DC go to school there won’t quite be the same obsession over IT so Pennywise won’t be the first thing anyone thinks of.

I think so too but sometimes once you've got a connection like that in your head it's hard to get rid of it!

Already have a Molly - so Polly, Molly, Milly won't be possible. (Or anything else ending with -lly).

Our surname is nothing like Wise og Weiss, but I still can only see the clown now when I think of Penny!

Love Indie but still find it such a "new" name compared to my other two children's names which are more classic/well known through generations. I don't feel like names have to match at all, so I don't know why that's a problem for me Hmm

If you love penny go for it, when you see her face that will be the only thing you associate with the name, and the only thing other people will think too.

Sunnydayshereatlast · 06/07/2020 13:46

I know a Molly with dsis Philippa nn Pippa...

sibbys · 06/07/2020 13:48

I actually really like Phillippa. It's just sooooo popular where I am living. Molly has also become really popular here so really don't want two popular names.

I think your overthinking it because the clown is male I wouldn't even associate them together.penny is a lovely name x

I think this might be a case of hormones. Wait until potentially Penny arrives & then decide. It honestly wouldn't cross my mind as an associate, in fact the first thing I think when I see the name Penny is a happy little girl.

RedOasis · 06/07/2020 13:55

Poppy? Ava? Milly? Valerie?

sibbys · 06/07/2020 13:56

@BernardsarenotalwaysSaints

Awww. A happy little girl. Could cry after reading that. You're right about the hormones. Glitterball

There are some lovely suggestions here. But go with your gut. I don’t like name Jennifer cos it makes me think Of something in particular but it’s a nice name if you know what I mean?! Wait till babies born. Then you will know what she looks like. Might not look like a penny....

crazybutkind · 06/07/2020 13:58

My baby is 2 weeks old and she is called penny. I had this aswell with worry of people referring to her as "Penny wise" I didn't tell anyone her name until she was born and she looks like a penny I'm glad I stuck with it now

Sunnydayshereatlast · 06/07/2020 13:58

Dd's friend is Penny. Most people call her Pound!!

AvoidingRealHumans · 06/07/2020 14:00

There is a little girl at my sons school called Penny and it has never ever crossed my mind about Pennywise .

It is lovely name, I'd still use it

Spied · 06/07/2020 14:00

I'd still use Penny. ( I'm a horror fan but I'd never think of Pennywise if I heard a little girl was called Penny)
I also like Jennifer nn Jenny.

I've no idea what clown you are talking about.
I associate Penny with a girl's name and the coin.
Maybe see how you feel when she is born?

Wingingthis · 06/07/2020 15:51

My daughter is penny (almost 3) and this has honestly never crossed my mind. And I’ve seen the film!

Lightswitches · 06/07/2020 15:52

I''ve never thought of Pennywise in terms of the name Penny for a girl.
Penny is a pretty girls name.

How about

Patsy (love Patsy!)
Belle
