What’s your favourite shortening of Elizabeth?

Eliza. We would call a baby girl Eliza-Rose if we get pregnant with a girl

ChelseaCat · 04/07/2020 23:00

I’m not sure if it’s my favourite but Buffy is an uncommon nickname for Elizabeth. I know you didn’t ask for uncommon but... 🤷‍♀️

I like Lizzie or Eliza I think. Love Elizabeth by the way

namechangebunny · 04/07/2020 23:01

Bess or Beth.

TinDogTavern · 04/07/2020 23:02

My sister is Elizabeth and my mum used to call her Lulubeth when she was little. Not much of a shortening but I thought it was lovely.

Fullmoonagain · 04/07/2020 23:04

Lovely name, I've only known lizzy or liz, but I think there are soo many ways you could make it work... Betty, Eliza, Beth.

OhTheRoses · 04/07/2020 23:05

So many options Smile

RandomMess · 04/07/2020 23:05

Thistlegirl4 · 04/07/2020 23:11

Eliza or Lizzy but I am watching Pride and Prejudice right now, which may be an influence!

DramaAlpaca · 04/07/2020 23:13

Lizzy or Libby.

daisypond · 04/07/2020 23:49

Elspeth or Lisbeth. I like Betsy and Lizzie too for a different vibe.

craftykamo · 05/07/2020 00:05

We have a five year old Elizabeth, it lends itself to lots of shortenings! Mainly we use Lizzie, Libbeth and Elsie. Ells-bells if she's being particularly difficult. When she was two she would refer to herself as E-liff, which was very cute.

This days, unfortunately, she demands that we change her name to "Hearts".

Onestepup · 05/07/2020 00:50

They're unfashionable but I like Lisa and Liza. I also like Beth and Bess. I don't like the cutesy nicknames like Libby and Betsy.

Tavannach · 05/07/2020 00:54

Lizzie

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 05/07/2020 07:38

Beth and Liesel (rarely heard in the UK, though).

MojoJojo71 · 05/07/2020 07:56

Libby, I love it but unfortunately DD’s dad hated it

zingally · 05/07/2020 12:21

Our daughter was nearly an Elizabeth Claire - it was certainly on the shortlist!

In the end, we decided it was too long with our surname, and had too many nickname possibilities! We wanted her name to be her name. In the end we went with Ivy Claire.

capercaillie · 05/07/2020 12:23

Lizzie, lilibet and whizzy

Starbuggy · 05/07/2020 14:18

Libby short for Elizabeth is my all time favourite name
