Is it too much?!?

I love the name Piper, but our last name is Parkin.
Is Piper Parkin too much? Thinking it’s too many P’s? It will be broken up with a middle name but it won’t be double barrled!

Yes too much sounds like a character from a nursery rhyme -sorry

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/06/2020 23:39

I know it's mostly frowned upon on here, but hypenating it may work.

What about Philippa, then you’ve still got PIP but the sound is different?

Teacher1995 · 26/06/2020 23:42

@Awwlookatmybabyspider

I know it's mostly frowned upon on here, but hypenating it may work. Piper -Ray Parker Piper-Leigh Parker Piper-Grace Parker Piper -Jade Parker Piper -Jo Parker Piper-Louise Parker Piper -Jean Parker Piper-May Parker Piper-Jay Parker Piper-Rose Parker
My middle name is Jay and we have thought about this being her middle name too! May have a think about hyphenating it x
eggsandwaffles · 26/06/2020 23:52

Love it! Don’t hyphenate. The Pip idea is so cute.

Victoria6386 · 27/06/2020 00:03

I actually really like it

backseatcookers · 27/06/2020 00:09

Poppy Parkin
Pippy Parkin
Holly Parkin
Violet Parkin
Anais Parkin

I'm considering changing my last name to Parkin, it's such a fun one for names!

backseatcookers · 27/06/2020 00:11

And I agree Pip Parkin itself sounds awesome. It's the -er that turns the whole thing sound a bit like a superhero alter ego!

Unless...

OP. Are you trying to tell us you're having a superhero baby? Because THAT would be cool.

If so then fuck it, just call her Supergirl!

IagoWithABlackberry · 27/06/2020 00:15

I'm not usually a fan of names that could ever be described as "too much" but I do actually love this.
Maybe go for a very ordinary middle name (Ivy works fine) so that she could potentially use that if she's older and doesn't like the sound of Piper Parkin.

AugmentedToast · 27/06/2020 00:35

I also think it’s a bit too much.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/06/2020 01:57

Oh sorry Parkin not ParkerBlush

joystir59 · 27/06/2020 02:00

It's a joke right? Otherwise you shouldn't be allowed to have a child

locked2020 · 27/06/2020 02:15

I think it's too much, sorry.

joystir59 · 27/06/2020 03:16

Give your child a decent name, don't turn her into a 'character'.

mrs87 · 27/06/2020 06:34

I know what you mean about "too much" but honestly, I quite like it. I think if both you and your DH both love it, that's a miracle in itself and other people's opinion shouldn't matter.

It's not ridiculous like some of the names you hear nowadays. How often will people actually say her full name? If someone called out "Piper Parkin" at the GP surgery I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Pop a middle name in there with a different letter, when you do your birth "announcement" people won't immediately notice - e.g 'Piper Rose Parkin was born... " and then after that, let people make their own opinions.

If you love it, go for it. Piper is a really cool name. It's not like your surname is Pipkin.

mrs87 · 27/06/2020 06:35

Just to add, if you were having a boy and wanted to call him Parker Parkin, then we'd be having a different conversation entirely... 😂

EmpressLangClegSpartacus · 27/06/2020 07:52

The Pip idea is so cute.

Cute names should be avoided like the plague unless the owner of the name also has a non-cute option. I’m speaking as someone who looked younger than her age for years & had enough trouble being taken seriously with a non-cute name. Being called something cute would have made it even harder.

DoTheMaccaroni · 27/06/2020 07:58

I LOVE it!!! My daughter also has an alliterated name. They stand out and they’re memorable. Go for it OP 😁

DoTheMaccaroni · 27/06/2020 08:04

Also as others have said, you don’t use a full name aaallll the time. Unless your famous in which case Piper Parkin is absolutely perfect!

My daughter had a great first and last name together and so far (she’s 2) I’ve hardly heard them both together. Kinda disappointed about that now that I’ve realised 😂

SoftBlocks · 27/06/2020 08:08

Too much.

Cbeebiesrehab · 27/06/2020 08:29

I think it’s great!

KetoWinnie · 27/06/2020 08:38

I like Philippa Parkin better. And you could use Piper as a nn

And if it stuck, it stuck.......... What's your surname OP?

Is Parkin your OH's surname? Could you put yours in too? Or is it a clash?

My son's name is alliterative so I like alliterative names but it is less JACKINTHEBOX gotcha sounding.

Funny how not all letters have the same impact. Somebody upthread mentioned F and I'm trying to think of an F name and surname and everything I can think sounds soft. Fiona Fagan. Flora Feehily.

Gwynneth Paltrow called her son Moses Martin and that sounds so funny. The incongruity of Moses paired with Martin makes me laugh. It needs something else in the middle to make Moses and Martin match.

puzzledpiece · 27/06/2020 09:28

Doesn't work I'm afraid.
