Is it too much?!?

I love the name Piper, but our last name is Parkin.
Is Piper Parkin too much? Thinking it’s too many P’s? It will be broken up with a middle name but it won’t be double barrled!

And it worked for Piper Perabo

Thinkpinkstink · 26/06/2020 22:31

It's sad isn't it? We loved Clara.... But our surname is very similar to Clarke.

I still say, if you love it, use it.

Oliviajay · 26/06/2020 22:31

@MondeoFan I love it written down, my husband loves it too! I think sadly I care too much on what other people would have to say. As a teacher, I’ve found it so hard to choose names and definitely went down the unique and quirky route!

Nah just enough

Go for it. Life is too short to be a wallflower and piper is a great name

BeBraveAndBeKind · 26/06/2020 22:36

It's a great name. It has a nice rhythm to it.

RaininSummer · 26/06/2020 22:37

Use it. They will hopefully be a big enough character to carry it off.

Tiletiletile1 · 26/06/2020 22:42

I love alliteration names. I’m all for it!

Sk1nnyB1tch · 26/06/2020 22:43

I like Piper and really she won't be called by her full name very often in life with an uncommon first name.

2bazookas · 26/06/2020 22:43

too much .

DamnYankee · 26/06/2020 22:44

I like Ivy better.

When I read your initial names, I couldn't get the "Peter Piper" rhyme or "Pansy Parkinson" from HP out of my head. Sad

KetoWinnie · 26/06/2020 22:44

No, that's awful. It's not the alliteration. Penelope Parkin might work, but Piper and Parkin both have two syllables so it sounds a bit peter piper picked a bit of pickled pepper.

LordOftheRingz · 26/06/2020 22:44

Sounds like the name of an engineering company .

KetoWinnie · 26/06/2020 22:46

Piper Perabo works better because the two names aren't equal in length. The flow is better. Less stuccato

MondeoFan · 26/06/2020 22:46

@oliviajay I'd go for it then. I know what you mean I've worked in nurseries/pre schools previously and saw every single name going through there. I have 2 girls and chose 2 old lady names in the end. Not popular ones though.

Skyliner001 · 26/06/2020 22:47

Yes

AnotherCupple · 26/06/2020 22:48

I really like it.

I disagree that it is like a tongue twister. If it was Piper Arparkin it would be difficult to say. But I think it’s easy to pronounce and goes nicely together.

Tonz · 26/06/2020 22:49

I like it Its an interesting name

EmpressLangClegSpartacus · 26/06/2020 22:51

It sounds like a character from a kids’ TV show. Your DD would have to be pretty confident to carry it off.

wildone84 · 26/06/2020 22:52

Yes, too much.

TheFoz · 26/06/2020 22:54

I love it. I say go for it.

TildaTurnip · 26/06/2020 22:55

I started reading the thread thinking too much then thought actually I like it but full circle to too much again. The PP initials, triple P alliteration and both being two syllables altogether make it troublesome.

BackforGood · 26/06/2020 23:06

Yes, it is too much. As others have said, it does sound like part of the famous tongue twister.

backseatcookers · 26/06/2020 23:14

It sounds cool but it's one of those names that feels like a lot to live up to if that makes sense?

It immediately makes you think of peter piper picked a...

Also not sure if anyone has pointed it out but Ivy Parkin instantly makes me think of Beyoncé's clothing range Ivy Park!

I actually really like Polly Parkin but that's very close to Polly Pocket.

It's an excellent last name though, something will come to you that feels perfect I'm sure!

BeMorePacific · 26/06/2020 23:15

I love it. I rarely use my full name, my sons full name is rarely used, so go for it!
It’s quirky and cool. xx

EventRider1 · 26/06/2020 23:30

I really like it.
