My choice is
Stanley

My partner wants
Seth

We can’t agree 😢

I’m thinking
Stanley Atticus
Stanley Gabriel
Stanley Seth
He’s thinking
Seth And won’t bloody budge!
Is 2 names beginning with S an issue.? One being the middle name so wouldn’t be used much at all. Or do I agree to call the baby Seth (which I don’t not like, I just love Stanley) and use Stanley as a middle name that I can then use if I want to.
I hate the thought of baby arriving and then not been given a name but we haven’t been able to agree for over 4 months so I can’t see it happening by Tuesday!

We have gone through thousands of other names but partner is Insistent it’s Seth (or he’d like to use his name but our other son has that as a middle name so I’m not keen)

Help

Gabriel is a million percent nicer than Stanley or Seth

chocolicious · 26/06/2020 14:23

I always think of Stanley as an old fashioned name.

Have we helped @Itsgottobethisone

I’m not sure. It’s definitely between Stanley and Seth. May just have to be patient and see what he looks like and decide once’s he’s here 🙈

I like Stanley.
If your partner wants to choose the name he can birth the baby himself...

Alwaysundecided · 26/06/2020 17:13

I prefer Seth. Imagine him as a teen and a young man. Seth is cool, Stanley isn't. Although I suppose Stan is quite a good nickname. Sorry not helping.
I personally would go Seth but you can't have Seth Stanley it's like a tongue twister. Stanley Seth sounds fine.
You really need to love the name though. If you really really want Stanley push hard for it. It's not like it's a name your DH doesn't like.

I know a little Seth and Stanley, I'd find it difficult to chose also, I think Stanley sounds a little more interesting.

sweetnosugar · 26/06/2020 18:01

Stanley is lovely. Not keen on Seth at all.
Maybe wait til baby is born some people find it easier to name baby when they see their face, or think of other options. It’s got to be a name you both love after all. Me and DH just knew when we found the right names for our little humans! Nothing worst than hearing other mums in my social circle that have name regret.

I prefer Gabriel, but Seth is better than Stan.

finallychangedmyusername · 26/06/2020 21:18

I really like Seth, but not a fan of Stanley. Is a compromise name not a possibility?

Midway between the two would probably be something traditional...

Thomas
Henry
Patrick
Michael

Or if you're keen on the letter S, Simon, Samuel?

donttouchmyhair · 26/06/2020 21:33

Seth is lovely. Hate Stanley.

DramaAlpaca · 26/06/2020 22:20

Stanley is great, love it.

I think Seth is horrible. It sounds weak, lispy and sort of slithery. As you can tell, I don't like it at all.
