DH and I really struggling to agree on a girls name.

We both love Isadora and Liberty/Libby nn.

For me, Isadora edges it. For him, Libby.

Which one do you prefer??

I rather like Liberty but really dislike Libby. I think I’d engineer T or Bertie as a nickname.
The Isadora’s I know are a bit Morge and not scintillating company.

wewillmeetagain · 18/06/2020 21:11

Love libby, but I'm biased it's dd name 😀

Ostagazuzulum · 18/06/2020 21:11

Isadora is beautiful

Orphlids · 18/06/2020 21:12

I’m afraid I think of Liberty as being rather downmarket, too. Isadora sounds more jolly hockey sticks so I’d go for that.

doubleshotespresso · 18/06/2020 21:13

Liberty

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 18/06/2020 21:14

Liberty. I like Isadora but its ruined for me by Wizadora. I know that isn't a current reference though so it wouldn't be a school bully type issue. I just can't get past it personally.

NeedToKnow101 · 18/06/2020 21:18

Liberty

17caterpillars1mouse · 18/06/2020 21:21

Definitely Isadora

Liberty is a very much a name a teenage mother would choose her - along with Demi and Chardonnay (obviously lots of teenage mothers choice lovely names)

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 18/06/2020 21:22

Liberty is beautiful

Isadora is hideous

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 18/06/2020 21:22

Liberty

hazandduck · 18/06/2020 21:29

Isadora is beautiful (and autocorrects to Is adorable on my phone - could be a nickname!) Love Dora for short.

Libby was the bully in Sabrina TTW wasn’t she? I like Liberty but prefer Isadora. (Sorry if people have said these points already - haven’t rtt.)

Isadora is lovely.

ConnellWaldronsChain · 18/06/2020 21:46

Isadora gets my vote

LotusClover · 18/06/2020 21:48

Liberty is so much nicer, and underused too. Isadora is frilly and pretentious.

Ellmau · 18/06/2020 21:50

Isadora is fab.

lymphopenia · 18/06/2020 21:51

Honestly I've always thought of Liberty as being more downmarket, as a few others have said. However having read this read earlier tonight, I've really thought about it and especially with the lovely nn Libby, it's grown on me. So that probably doesn't help you much other than to say I think Liberty probably edges it over Isadora

GirlCalledJames · 18/06/2020 21:54

Isadora

Twizbe · 18/06/2020 21:55

Elizabeth shortened to Libby. I'm not a fan of either liberty or Isadora

DanniArthur · 18/06/2020 22:00

Isadora! I love it! Worked on my DP for months trying to get him to love it but alas DD was named Isabelle as a compromise. I know we dont know each other but name her Isadora for me 😂

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 18/06/2020 22:05

Neither, The star of GLow was called Liberty and Isadora - everyone will call her Dora the Explorer. Both pretentious aspirational names that she will hate as she grows older.

Tillygetsit · 18/06/2020 22:12

I don't think she'll hate either...what an odd thing to say. Isadora conjures up the roaring 20s to me, all flapper dresses and long cigarette holders. I love it.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 18/06/2020 22:24

Why is it odd? They are awful names. I hate my name and really wish I’d changed it but am a bit over the hill to do so now.

TypicalMeBreakMyTypicalRules · 18/06/2020 22:49

Isadora. Fab name

newmum332 · 18/06/2020 22:56

Isadora if it was me.
I second the chavvy comment for Liberty.

PJCase · 18/06/2020 23:18

Liberty is an awful name, sorry. Libby is ok but is short for Elizabeth.

Isadora NN Izzy is nice.
