DH and I really struggling to agree on a girls name.

We both love Isadora and Liberty/Libby nn.

For me, Isadora edges it. For him, Libby.

Which one do you prefer??

Pandora for me as I really dislike Liberty

FawnDrench · 18/06/2020 20:04

Isadora

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 18/06/2020 20:14

Liberty for me. I do associate it with the print and the department store, but I really love both these things. Isodora always just turns into Wizadora in my head I'm afraid.

steppemum · 18/06/2020 20:18

I like both, but I really dislike Libby. It kind of makes my skin crawl. I am not sure why, as Lizzy is lovely.

The b sound jsut doesn't work for me.

Lucylivesinamushroomhouse · 18/06/2020 20:20

Isadora for me.

Not a huge fan of Libby but love Bertie as nn for Liberty!

Charlottejbt · 18/06/2020 20:24

I think Isidora is a better spelling. Liberty is very frumpy IMO.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 18/06/2020 20:29

Don’t really like either if I’m honest.

Of the two, I’d say Liberty as I can’t read Isadora without saying it in a weird voice. (I watched How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days yesterday and the name of a necklace is Isadora. The character who says the name says it how I say it in my head)

BabyDust13 · 18/06/2020 20:29

I prefer Isadora not keen on Liberty but I don't mind Libby

ChickenFriedFudge · 18/06/2020 20:29

Bertie as a nn is so cool!

@ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings
Yes! Liberty is actually my DSis middle name. Dmum couldn't think of a middle name for her, and my dad came into the ward with baby supplies carried in my mums trusty purple Liberty tote bag. As he put it down, she had her answer. I love Liberty the shop.

Just reread my post and it sounds like I’m saying the man’s accent is weird. It’s not. It’s only a weird voice when I think of it because it’s not my voice. Confused

JuniperKane · 18/06/2020 20:33

Isadora is a make up brand, that’s really all I can associate that name with. They do a really nice bronzer.

QueenofDestruction · 18/06/2020 20:35

Spell correction - Isadora

RuthW · 18/06/2020 20:37

Isadora.

I like Liberty but not Libby.

123Dancewithme · 18/06/2020 20:41

Isadora. Liberty is a bit chavvy for lack of a better word.

ChickenFriedFudge · 18/06/2020 20:43

@123dancewithme
That's my concern if I'm honest. I don't like any other 'virtue' names (Hope, Faith etc)

I like Isadora. I really dislike Libby. The Libbys I've met have been simpering and wet.

Lavenderblues · 18/06/2020 20:50

Isadora! Much more classy.

Really don't like Liberty at all, sorry.

2007Millie · 18/06/2020 20:52

Libby

Whatsyourflava · 18/06/2020 20:53

Liberty is beautiful- one of my favourite names

I find Isadora a but downmarket and too frilly. Sounds like Isballe and Dora just mashed together and hoping for the best

merryhouse · 18/06/2020 20:57

I like Liberty - but not Libby. (Also I'm never keen on giving a child a name you don't actually intend to use.)

Isadora is a bit tedious.

Whatsyourflava · 18/06/2020 21:02

Isadora will most likely be Izzy and the name blends in with all the Isabelles
I love Liberty though

Blursula · 18/06/2020 21:03

Isadora definitely. Lovely name

SoMuchToBits · 18/06/2020 21:08

Isadora. Lovely!
