Two names

So it seems myself and my DH can only agree on these two names Emily & Charlotte
I am aware these are very popular, have been for years and most likely will still be popular for many more, may seem pretty boring/standard to many of you however which do you prefer?

I really like both, classic names that haven't really dated.

NewModelAvaliableSoon · 29/05/2020 09:47

I prefer Charlotte over Emily, but only just! Both are lovely classic names.

Edenember · 29/05/2020 10:03

I prefer Charlotte

Babyshine2020 · 29/05/2020 10:04

I prefer Charlotte, Emily is very common where I live and have lived (around the north west). There aren't many charlottes though!

Fifi2020 · 29/05/2020 10:17

@Babyshine2020 oh really, I'm in the north west also but would say the opposite.

Prefer Charlotte a little bit more just cause you can have Charlie or Lottie which are both awesome 😊.

sweetnosugar · 29/05/2020 10:46

Prefer Charlotte, love the nn Lottie.

peperethecat · 29/05/2020 11:01

I prefer Emily but they are both good classic names.

LilacSloth · 29/05/2020 11:05

I prefer Emily. Charlotte is lovely too but I don't like Charlie as a nickname.

Sk1nnyB1tch · 29/05/2020 11:05

Charlotte, Friends ruined Emily for me.

Thisismeimabitch · 29/05/2020 11:08

Charlotte is better. Emily is very 1990s to me and it’s so common that it’s dull as ditchwater. Sorry!

IncrediblySadToo · 29/05/2020 11:11

Charlotte.

I liked Emily, but it's SO over used.
But can you agree on Charlie or Lottie?

WaxOnFeckOff · 29/05/2020 11:35

Charlotte rather than Emily but prefer Emma to either.

123Dancewithme · 29/05/2020 12:28

Charlotte nn Lottie

Helloagain20 · 29/05/2020 12:35

I prefer Emily, Charlotte is OK I just don't like the nicknames that would inevitably be used.

Spied · 29/05/2020 12:40

Prefer Charlotte and I like either Charlie or Lottie as a nn if you so choose.
Emily isn't bad but I went to school with an awful, fake, pretentious cow called Emily and it's really put me offGrin

Fifi2020 · 29/05/2020 12:41

Same @Helloagain20 I'm not keen on Charlie or lottie either.

I think they’re nice and the “good” kind of popular - names that aren’t faddy and won’t date.

No one will be able based on name alone that little Emily or little Charlotte was born in 2020 the way that we all can guess how old a Nigel or Gary or Karen is.

Fifi2020 · 29/05/2020 12:46

I understand many people prefer more unique names, and charlotte seems to be getting more love on my post. However it does make me wonder...in the top 100 Emily sits at number 5 and charlotte 19, to me that means more people actually like Emily..oh were so torn.

My all time favourite girls names! Hard to chose between them.

In a similar vein: Alice?

20viona · 29/05/2020 12:52

Definitely prefer Charlotte, emily is so dull in my opinion.

CiderWithRosy · 29/05/2020 13:02

Both beautiful names.

CiderWithRosy · 29/05/2020 13:03

Prefer Charlotte (very marginally!)

userabcname · 29/05/2020 13:06

I prefer Emily

TenThousandSpoons · 29/05/2020 13:08

Love both. I’d choose Emily if you don’t like Charlie or Lottie though.
