Our Baby Girls Name...

Well, my boys list got many rude comments that are hurtful but I thank those who were kind and helpful.
This is our girls list, it is a lot harder for us to narrow down because neither of us can agree on one we both like.

My list:
Ivorie, Emmie, Ezmae, Maezie, Darsie, Rozie and Mollie, he hates Mollie though even though it's my fav. :(

Hubby's list:
Leighyah, Amilliyah, Addelleigh, Maeleigh and Quinleigh

I will probably have to choose one of his picks. I wish he liked Maelie or Addellie but he don't.
Anyway if you have to choose which do you like the most? Xxo

I like Mollie the most.

LadyGAgain · 27/05/2020 08:24

Emmie
The rest have strange spellings and i feel for the child constantly having to spell their name every time.

BabyDust13 · 27/05/2020 08:26

I love Ezmae from your list and from your OHs I like Amilliyah although I'm not sure about that spelling but that's your personal preference

Good luck hope you can agree on one

TenThousandSpoons · 27/05/2020 08:27

Is Amilliyah pronounced Amelia?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 27/05/2020 08:29

Are they long and oddly spelt got a reason?

Eg. It’s Leah not Leighyah
I like Darcie and Mollie. Emmie is nice but it’s a nickname for Emma or Emily.

kahronah · 27/05/2020 08:31

@TenThousandSpoons Yes. I like unique spellings but hubby insists that it be extra unique... I suggested Ameliah but he is stubborn lol

I like Emmie and Darcy (but not Darsie). I completely appreciate wanting a name that feels a little different, but spelling these names in odd ways doesn’t make them different names - they still sound the same. All it does it make it difficult for your child in everyday life to have to constantly clarify the spelling of their name, adding ‘it’s Rosie with a Z’ or ‘it’s Darcy with an S.’

I think Leah is a perfectly lovely name without having to spell it Leighyah - which just looks really odd!

Blursula · 27/05/2020 08:33

Amilliyah isn’t pronounced ‘Amelia.’ That will be read as Am-ILL-ia

midnightstar66 · 27/05/2020 08:33

I thought the last post was obviously a joke, now I'm not so sure .....

Bertyb7 · 27/05/2020 08:36

I like Masie but not Maezie. From your list Emmie is the best I think.

The spelling of your husbands are awful! I wouldn't pick one of those and continue to find something you both like. He should compromise a bit.

Letthemysterybe · 27/05/2020 08:38

Giving your child a unique spelling of a common name doesn’t make any sense. They will still be one of several Amelias at their school, just they will be the one with it spelt incorrectly!

Theyweretheworstoftimes · 27/05/2020 08:38

Look at the baby names at the bottom of the top 500 these will be the lesser used names.

Also it was suggested that watching television and films credits is a good idea lots and lots of names and one might pop out.

Your child will have to spell the name so bear in mind the harder to spell it the more they will struggle.

Good luck with you name search.

Userwhatevernumber · 27/05/2020 08:38

Why can’t you just spell them normally? The child will be ridiculed. It looks sad, like you are trying too hard to be cool.

Esme
Darcy
Amelia
Ivory
Rosie
Leah
Maisie
Quinn

All of them, spelt properly are nice names. The alternate spellings look silly.

If you had to have those names, then please make it Mollie or Emmie.

beautifulmonument · 27/05/2020 08:39

I'm sorry but your made up spellings are ridiculous. Poor child.

Blursula · 27/05/2020 08:43

If you like names that have complicated spellings there are some gorgeous Irish names you might like, like Aoife (eefa), Caoimhe (keeva) and Saoirse (seer-sha)

ScarletFever · 27/05/2020 08:46

They look awful spelt that way, I'm not pearl clutching, but they are not nice. Not sure which is worst out of these Ezmae, Maezie, Darsie, Rozie

majesticallyawkward · 27/05/2020 08:50

I remember your boys thread... good god what is wrong with just spelling a name? If you like popular names just use one, these spellings make you look like you can't spell. For the child's entire life anyone who sees their name written down will assume they are chavvy/scummy, I know that's 'judgey' but it's what will happen. If I saw most of those on a cv or job application I wouldn't take it seriously.

But your child's name wont be unique. They will still be 1 of several Amelia's or Esme's its just their name will be spelt differently. If you want your child to have an unusual name then find one outside of the top 500 don't pick a name commonly used and fuck up the spelling. Hmm

chipsandgin · 27/05/2020 08:52

I’m hoping/presuming you are joking, however just in case both your threads are actually genuine - please don’t!

Poor kid, a life time of having to spell out a ridiculous, grammatically incorrect ramble every single time they go anywhere from picking up a parcel to checking in at the doctors, let alone the early years at school.

‘Yoonique’ spellings are crass and looked down upon (just look at the disdain, mocking and derision on your threads OP). Life is hard enough without saddling your kid with a mouthful of a name that will make people laugh at them and cause them embarrassment and shame, it’s not a great start making them an object of ridicule before they can even talk, why would you do that?

Grandmi · 27/05/2020 08:54

The spellings destroy the pretty names !!

overworkedandstressed · 27/05/2020 08:54

I get what you are trying to do but just no. the names don't look right. your child will stand out but not in a good way. Some of the names you have chosen are pretty but your spelling makes them clunky. Its unfair on your child

GeraltOfRivia · 27/05/2020 08:55

It's either unique or not unique.

Unique spellings are a fad and will just make a lifetime of forever correcting people for your child.

SanFrancisco49er · 27/05/2020 09:05

It's a joke - look at OP's own name. I think this and the boy name thread are hoping to be funny Hmm
