Trying to decide on a name and we really can’t choose, Im thinking I want a name which is l longer and formal ish to put on the bc but with a nickname to call her everyday, so far I like: Harriet (hattie), Olivia (Liv), Annabel (Belle), Isabella (bella) and Abigail (Abi).
Which ddo you prefer and why?
Thanks 😊

Agree that Harriet Grace is lovely. I also like Harriet Maud.

I think you could choose a longer middle name too though. Harriet Josephine is nice (to my ears) and I love Harriet Augusta.

AdaColeman · 27/05/2020 17:35

Grace is a nice name, but it's replaced Rose as the go to middle name option. Harriet Maud, Harriet Miranda, Harriet Saskia, Harriet Lucy/Lucinda, Harriet Leah are some other ideas.

Edenember · 27/05/2020 17:39

@AdaColeman actually inspired by you, Harriet Ada would be lovely also ☺️

Ahh I love Harriett Ada! Ada was actually one of the names I considered at first x

Joining in the Harriet love. Terrific name. Hattie is also my favourite of your short forms, by miles.

CatteStreet · 27/05/2020 21:32

I think your middle name should be shortish.

Harriet Beth
Harriet Jane
Harriet Claire
Harriet Clara
Harriet Alice
Harriet Joy

We have an Annie but shes Annabelle on her birth cert.

SpillTheTeaa · 27/05/2020 21:57

I like Belle as nickname but Isabelle as the full name. Annabel reminds me of that horror movie!

finallychangedmyusername · 27/05/2020 22:22

I like - in order of preference - Abigail (Abi/Abby), Annabel (Annie/Anna) and Harriet (Hattie, Etta)

With short middle name options (for me Grace is too popular a middle name):

Harriet Fleur
Harriet Anne
Harriet Claire
Harriet Amy
Harriet Esme
Harriet Niamh
Harriet Zoe

Annabel Dawn
Annabel Tess
Annabel Lucy

Abigail Eve
Abigail Cora
Abigail Emma
Abigail Ivy
Abigail Lara

Abigail Lara and Abigail Cora are my favourites.

Other suggestions:
Christabel (Christy/Belle/Bella)
Matilda (Mattie/Tillie/Millie)
Rosalind (Rosie/Rosa/Lindy)

Harriet (hattie)❌Agree with above henrietta instead Harriet is too common
Olivia (Liv) ✔️
Annabel (Belle)❔Belle as the actual name instead too common as full name
Isabella (bella) ❔same as above
Abigail (Abi) ❔ Abbie instead is much nicer

Blondeieee · 28/05/2020 07:30

What about Harriet/ Hattie Belle?!

I think 2 syllable names go best with Harriet e.g. Lucy, Martha, Mary, Rosa, Laura, Clara, Mabel, Megan.

Ada is a lovely name but I think it sounds as though it will run into Harriet and become Harrier Tayda.

Wolfgirrl · 28/05/2020 10:29

Henrietta is awful and really stuffy. Surely go for a pretty name rather than a less popular uglier one? 🤷‍♀️

Wolfgirrl · 28/05/2020 10:31

Harriet Amy is so pretty and roles off the tongue!

babynamelover · 28/05/2020 10:49

Harriet Jean
Harriet Julie
Harriet Clara
Harriet Amy
Harriet Anne
Harriet Abigail
Harriet June
Harriet Ella
Harriet Joy
Harriet Lucy
Harriet Briony
Harriet Nola

VioletCharlotte · 28/05/2020 10:54

I like Harriet and Olivia. Isabella is nice, but not so keen on Izzy. I don't like Annabel (snooty) or Abigail.

Some other suggestions you might like:
Imogen
Phoebe
Polly
Charlotte

Henrietta / Hetty

Littlepoppet1 · 28/05/2020 11:03

Harriet is my fave but it is my daughters name so I am biased! I always get lots of compliments on her name and am yet to come across another one at baby groups/friends etc!

averythinline · 28/05/2020 12:23

Not keen on belle too Disney for my tastes...
How about Harriet Olivia ?
Don't think it needs to be short as like
Harriet Evangeline
/Elizabeth/Clementine/Katharine

Aclh13 · 28/05/2020 21:12

Hattie belle is nice, I have a few friends who's legal names are hattie, quite quirky
