Trying to decide on a name and we really can’t choose, Im thinking I want a name which is l longer and formal ish to put on the bc but with a nickname to call her everyday, so far I like: Harriet (hattie), Olivia (Liv), Annabel (Belle), Isabella (bella) and Abigail (Abi).
Which ddo you prefer and why?
Thanks 😊

@Blondeieee also Florence nn Flo or Florrie is super cute, Beatrice nn Bea, Eleanor or Eleonora nn Nell or Norah.

DramaAlpaca · 26/05/2020 18:41

My favourite is Harriet, nn Hattie.

I know Olivia has been very popular for ages, but I adore Liv.

Albern · 26/05/2020 18:44

My favourite is Harriet definitely

formerbabe · 26/05/2020 18:46

Annabelle is my favourite, such a classic feminine name with out being too frilly iyswim. Harriet is my least favourite...such a harsh ugly sound. The others are fine...nice enough.

sweetnosugar · 26/05/2020 20:11

I prefer Olivia and Isabella/Isabelle.
How about:
Scarlett
Marnie
Winnie
Elsie

277xo · 26/05/2020 20:13

My favourite is Harriet, I don’t think it dates and is classy! I also like Matilda that another poster suggested.

EveryoneLoves09876 · 26/05/2020 20:15

Harriet - classic, beautiful and not overused atm!

sunlightflower · 26/05/2020 20:19

I like all of them but my favourites are Annabel and Abigail.

lymphopenia · 26/05/2020 20:24

I love these names! Very much my taste. Olivia and Isabella are my favourites

kahronah · 26/05/2020 20:26

I like Isabella. Annabel is nice but there's a horrible movie called that so I'm turned off of it.

Some ideas:
Arabellah (Ary, Bellah)
Valyntina (Valy, Tina)
Arayah (Ary, Ray)

cptartapp · 26/05/2020 20:36

Alicia - Lissy
Jennifer - Jenny
FRancesca - Frankie
Roseanne - Rose/Rosie
ELizabeth - Beth
Georgina- Georgie
Natalie - Tally

seriousandloyal · 26/05/2020 20:43

I prefer Harriet out of your list.

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 26/05/2020 20:51

I like Harriet but see no need to shorten it - it's lovely as it is.

I like Liv but prefer it as a diminutive of Livia than Olivia. Livia sounds more elegant to my ears than Olivia.

17caterpillars1mouse · 26/05/2020 20:51

Harriet (hattie) - I really like it and love the nn Hattie. I only know 2

Olivia (Liv) - I like it, and Liv or Livvy is great but it's so so popular. I love Olive, but would use Olivia on mn spot only for me due to popularity

Annabel (Belle) - love Annabel but not a fan of Belle. I much prefer Annie

Isabella (bella) - I LOVE Isobel, its dd1s mn but find Isabella too frilly. I'm not a fan of Bella
Abigail (Abi). - lovely classic name that isn't too popular atm. My favourite on your list, closely followed by Harriet nn Hattie

MikeUniformMike · 26/05/2020 20:55

Harriet (hattie) - Hattie is great, Harriet a bit popular
Olivia (Liv) - way overused
Annabel (Belle) - fine, but no to Belle especially if the surname starts with End. Quite a few frilly names starting with A around.
Isabella (bella) - ok but overused.
and Abigail (Abi) - yes, and can also be Gail so great.

1st - Abigail, a close 2nd Hattie.
The others are nice but overused

35andThriving · 26/05/2020 20:56

I like Olivia and Abigail best. Least keen on Harriet but they are all nice names.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 26/05/2020 21:00

What about Livia with Livvy as a nn

Jessabean · 26/05/2020 21:01

Love your name styles - I also like the whole longer more formal full name with nicknames you use at home.

Out of the ones you listed I personally think Harriet/Hattie is the loveliest. Others are less of my kind of taste but nothing wrong with them.

Other ideas:
Elizabeth or Eliza/Lizzie or Lily or Betty or Betsy
Emmeline or Emerald/Emmy
Alice/Ally
Josephine or Jocasta/Josie
Adeline or Adelaide/Addie
Charlotte/Lottie
Georgina/Georgie
Rosalind or Rosalie/Rosie
Madeline/Maddie

GinWithRosie · 26/05/2020 21:13

Harriet out of your list, but I would use Harry/Harri as a nn instead of Hattie.

Elizabeth...Betty/Liza/Eli/Eliza

Madeleine -Ada/Maddie

averythinline · 26/05/2020 21:47

Really like Liv .. Olivia is ok ... how about Liberty... or Livia ? Harriet 2nd

123Dancewithme · 26/05/2020 21:48

Harriet

Riotgirlxxx · 26/05/2020 21:50

I really like Abigail

georgialondon · 26/05/2020 21:54

The only one I like is Abigail. I don't love it though.

Blondeieee · 27/05/2020 14:10

Thankyou everyone for your responses, I think I’m leaning towards Harriet/ hattie! Does anyone have any middle name suggestions? I’m thinking Harriet Grace sounds lovely

@Blondeieee lovely ♥️ I think you’re right to go with a monosyllabic middle...Other suggestions - Bea, Faith, Jeane, Rose, Nell, Eve.
