Maddalena is spelt wrong. Every single person is going to spell it with one "d".

EveryoneLoves09876 · 22/05/2020 14:26

Madalena. Was a typo!

Noellia - no opinion

Juliette - associated with Romeo and Juliet

Evalina - name of a children's hospital

Elara - mmm ( no opinion)

Hestia - a Greek god

Hera - a Greek god

Juniper - berries for gin

Ginevra - a horse

Elowen - no opinion

Madalena - someone I met who was nice and helpful.

LotusClover · 22/05/2020 14:32

Noellia - 2
Juliette - 3
Evalina - 3
Elara - 4
Hestia - 1
Hera - 1
Juniper - 1
Ginevra - 1
Elowen - 1
Madalena - 2

To be completely honest I don't like any of them. They're all either too out there, too frilly, or spelt in a non-traditional way which will lead to a lifetime of them being misspelt.

EveryoneLoves09876 · 22/05/2020 14:34

@lotusclover which ones would you say fits each of those? E.g. which ones are frilly and which are out there?

Goostacean · 22/05/2020 14:35

You mean order them? Or rate them?
Juniper (best)
Juliette
Hera
Evalina
Ginevra
Elowen
Hestia
Elara
Madalena
Noellia (Worst)

userabcname · 22/05/2020 14:39

Noellia - 1 never heard it before, dislike!
Juliette - 9 pretty, like a lot
Evalina - 5 meh, not got much to say, average
Elara - 7 quite nice actually, potentially would grow on me
Hestia - 2 don't like the sound of it, quite harsh
Hera - 6
Juniper - 10 my top choice. Pretty and unusual without being too weird.
Ginevra- 4
Elowen - 5
Madalena - 6

LotusClover · 22/05/2020 14:40

@EveryoneLoves09876 I find Noellia and Madalina too frilly, whereas Noelle and Madeleine are lovely. Hestia, Hera, Juniper and Ginevra are a bit out there for me. I quite like Juliet (spelt the traditional way). Elara is actually quite pretty too but it looks a bit made up.

peperethecat · 22/05/2020 14:40

I don't like any of them, sorry. Confused

peperethecat · 22/05/2020 14:41

Juliet (this spelling) is the only one that is OK.

Gazelda · 22/05/2020 14:41

1 Hestia
2 Ginevra
3 Noellia

4 Maddalena
5 Elara
6 Elowena
7 Juniper
8 Evalina
9 Juliette
10 Hera

To be honest, I don't like any of them except maybe Hera.

EveryoneLoves09876 · 22/05/2020 14:42

@goo either!

Thanks everyone! No one ever tells you this stuff in real life.

EveryoneLoves09876 · 22/05/2020 14:44

@peperethecat haha no problem! I find it really interesting to see what people think.

OP posts:
peperethecat · 22/05/2020 14:47

I think what I don't like about them is that they are too fussy and frilly.

If you'd said Juliet, Noelle, Madeleine/Magdalena, Elena/Lara, Elowen, Juno, Evelyn, I'd like the list a lot more. But it seems like you're adding frilly bits for the sake of it, which isn't to my taste.

glitterbiscuits · 22/05/2020 14:48

Juliet is the only one I like.

The others are all quite sore and sorcery, fantasy style names.

Goostacean · 22/05/2020 14:49

Posted too soon; here are my comments

Juniper (best) - the best known, probably, but still unusual. Shortens nicely to Juno/June. Suits all ages. Best of the bunch.
Juliette - frilly. Like how it sounds but would spell Juliet.
Hera - I would assume the person is Greek, for obvious reasons. Also, wasn’t she Zeus’ wife AND sister? Not convinced.
Evalina - trendy, due to the “Eva” part. Feels a bit made-up but I generally like it.
Ginevra - only okay because she’ll be “Ginny”. Feels pretentious to me.
Elowen - isn’t this from Lord of the Rings? It’s okay but don’t love it.
Hestia - very fusty, musty, old-lady name...
Elara - Ella? Lara?
Madalena - if this were Magdalena, it would be number one by a country mile! But Madalena just sounds made up again. Madeleine? Mad Elena? No.
Noellia (Worst) - also feels like a mismash. Noel? Noelle? Ella? I would hate to be called this myself (apologies to anyone with the name!)

BecomingMe · 22/05/2020 14:50

I don’t like any of them but I love Juliet.

CurlyEndive · 22/05/2020 14:50

Juliette is my favourite by miles (prefer Juliet).

I really like Lara but not keen on Elara.

Juniper and Madalena are ok.

Not keen on the others. Evalina is pretty but I do think of the hospital.

Microwaveoven · 22/05/2020 14:51

They are all a 1. Sorry. Just not nice names. None of them roll of the tounge. If you have to. Juliet.

mummyshambles123 · 22/05/2020 14:51

How about Noelina?

EveryoneLoves09876 · 22/05/2020 14:52

@Goostacean Madalena is Spanish and Noellia is Greek but fair enough Grin

OP posts:
ShyTown · 22/05/2020 14:52

Noellia - haven’t heard of this, sounds like a contraceptive
Juliette - Romeo, like it a lot
Evalina - children’s hospital in London
Elara - I prefer Lara which is probably won’t most people will hear it as anyway
Hestia - Greek mythology but it’s harsh sounding
Hera - Greek mythology, I like it
Juniper - gin
Ginevra - Geneva in Switzerland
Elowen - neutral about this, doesn’t make me think of anything in particular
Madalena - quite like this but may be shortened to Maddy and blend in with Madeleine’s and Maddison’s

Juliette or Hera are definitely my favourites

sweetnosugar · 22/05/2020 14:52

Noellia - I’m not sure, I think it would grow on me. 6 maybe?
Juliette - 4
Evalina (evah-leena) - 8
Elara - Same as Noellia 6
Hestia - 1
Hera - 1, harsh as above.
Juniper - 5 Reminds me of pink gin! Not a bad thing! Grin
Ginevra - Same as above coincidently! 5
Elowen - 1
Madalena - 7

Whatsyourflava · 22/05/2020 14:52

Sorry these aren't really to my taste either 🙈
I like Juno though (potential shortening of Juniper)
I'm also not keen on overly frilly names with loads of unnecessary syllables
Elowen I think will get shortened to Elle or something similar and there's a lot of Eve/Evie/Elle type names so that would put me off if you're wanting a name that's a bit different
