Hi Everyone

Really struggling to find an unusual name for my girl.

My son nicknamed her Lemi when we told him he was having a sister. We've been calling her that throughout the pregnancy and that name has now stuck!!

Need an objective opinion about the name! What do people think??

I don't like it but I know someone who called their daughter Leni which I do like.

Sorry...

What do you think of Lemi as a girl's name?
Sexnotgender · 17/05/2020 14:27

I think she’ll spend her life saying no not Remi/Renee.

TheThingWithFeathers · 17/05/2020 14:29

Makes me think of lemmings. It's not a name!

june2007 · 17/05/2020 14:29

I think of Lemmi 9as above.) or Lemony Snicket. (both men) or lemons .

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 17/05/2020 14:29

Yep just makes me think of Lemmy.

Also possible it might be thought of as rhyming with Levi. Unless you meant that? I assumed it was pronounced as Lemmy.

Glitterbubbles · 17/05/2020 14:29

What about Eleni?

Oceangirl82 · 17/05/2020 14:33

I like it, Turkish Name.

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 17/05/2020 14:35

Why, just why do people even consider doing these things to their children?

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 17/05/2020 14:35

What about Clementine/Clemmie?

hopeforlucky3 · 17/05/2020 14:35

I'm not so keen on Lemi, my friends called Temi.

LotusClover · 17/05/2020 14:36

Never heard it before. My first thought was Demi with an L at the start. I also thought of lemons.

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 17/05/2020 14:36

I know several women called Eleni, beautiful name although they’re all older (60+).

Destroyedpeople · 17/05/2020 14:38

It just sounds like lemmy from motorhead tbh.
What about Amelie or Elena...?

PurpleDaisies · 17/05/2020 14:38

Horrible.

devoncreamtea · 17/05/2020 14:38

How would you say it OP? Chances are that you’ll end up with it as a nickname if not given name, by the sound of it! I think it’s sweet!

Lexi2013 · 17/05/2020 14:41

Oh wow. Seems like that's a resounding no!!!

Only other 2 names we're thinking about ( and we've been through soooooo many) are Lara and Fenn.

Don't know any girls names Fenn.

Is Lara a fairly common name??

OP posts:
helpmum2003 · 17/05/2020 14:41

Amelie or Clemmie would be gorgeous and your ds could use Lemi as a nn.

I've heard Mimi as a nn for Amelia which is similar..

PurpleDaisies · 17/05/2020 14:42

Lara is nice.

Fenn isn’t.

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 17/05/2020 14:43

Lara I like. Not Fenn.

Lexi2013 · 17/05/2020 14:44

Pronounced as Lem-ee

OP posts:
Lordfrontpaw · 17/05/2020 14:44

I like Laura. I think - not so sure now I see it written down!

bluestarsatnightfall · 17/05/2020 14:44

Lemi the lemon jumped out at me for some reason lol

florascotia2 · 17/05/2020 14:47

It's a man's name in at least two African countries, and in Samoa:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemi_(name)

It's a surname (reference = ditto)

According to this Turkish website, it's a male name (not unisex) in Turkey:

DarylDixonsHair · 17/05/2020 14:48

I like it! I think it would work for a sporty/adventurous type and also for a hippie/alternative girl.
