Echo

I am watching a film on Netflix named Saving Zoë and the two main girls on it are sisters named well Zoë and Echo.

I had never thought of Echo as a name but the more I heard it being said by the people on the film and actually seeing someone go through life with it (even if it was just on film) made it sound even more real. Not sure I'd put if on my list of top choices but definitely got me thinking

What do you think of it?

What like the Amazon Echo? First thing I thought of sorry. Might’ve been a nice name in the past but not now.

minipie · 07/05/2020 23:24

Well there’s a fairly sad Greek legend about her so that would put me off.

FourPlasticRings · 07/05/2020 23:25

It's the name and wake word of my Amazon Echo dot (you can choose from Alexa, Computer, Echo and Amazon)! I say it a lot during the day. I wouldn't name a child that, personally.

JKScot4 · 07/05/2020 23:25

And The Bunnymen?

Shmithecat2 · 07/05/2020 23:26

My friend has a wire haired Daschund called Echo, so it's a 'No' from me.

MaMaMyCorona · 07/05/2020 23:26

Amazon echo so no I wouldn't use it personally

ErrolTheDragon · 07/05/2020 23:30

Echo from the Greek myth... no way.
Or even its normal meaning - who the heck would want to be a mere echo?Confused

My friend has a wire haired Daschund called Echo,

Do they have another dachshund and this one always barks second?Grin

DarkDarkNight · 07/05/2020 23:33

It makes me think of Ecco the Dolphin.

Headbangersandmash · 07/05/2020 23:38

Sorry but I'd want to say her name multiple times with decreasing volume "Echo, Echo, Echo... "

TARSCOUT · 07/05/2020 23:39

Your baby your choice, choice, choice.

JKScot4 · 07/05/2020 23:48

@TARSCOUT, scout, scout
🤣🤣🤣

Ohjustboreoff · 07/05/2020 23:57

Picture the scene. What's your baby's name? Echo. Pardon? Echo. What? Echo. Hahaha bet you've never heard that before Confused

LilacTree1 · 07/05/2020 23:57

No way. Cruel.

babynamelover · 07/05/2020 23:58

Hey I don't thinks it's as usuable as other Greek names. I personally wouldn't use it but each to their own 😃. On a side note I really like Hera.

daisypond · 07/05/2020 23:58

The Greek myths - but Echo’s story is not a happy one.

MovingBriskyOn · 08/05/2020 00:03

Say that again?

JamMakingWannaBe · 08/05/2020 00:04

OMG @tarscout! PMSL! 🤣

whatausername · 08/05/2020 00:06

I would think the parents disliked their child and were playing a cruel trick on it. I'm only being so direct because it's not a name you're considering. I hope.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/05/2020 00:42

You know that really irritating thing kids do where they keep repeating you? Well, any parent who called their kid Echo would bloody well deserve to have this constantly!

GrumpyHoonMain · 08/05/2020 00:45

I don’t like Echo as a name at all, sorry

Mumma4262 · 08/05/2020 06:31

@DarkDarkNight me too!

EricaNernie · 08/05/2020 06:46

not for me

BillywilliamV · 08/05/2020 06:49

Oh ffs, choose a bloody name that doesnt amount to low grade child abuse. There's an "Apricity" on here this morning too!!
There are thousands of pretty, serviceable names out there..choose one!

PunkrockerGirl59 · 08/05/2020 06:53

Awful. Poor kid.

mucka · 08/05/2020 09:44

Love it. It was on my list.
