Tavannach · 07/05/2020 19:11

From your list

Aurora (nn Rory)
Cecily
Eve
Honor
Romilly
Tilda

and I would ad Sorrell

Tavannach · 07/05/2020 19:12

add

Edenember · 07/05/2020 19:26

@Tavannach I’m not keen on Sorrell. If I heard it on someone else I’d probably think it was cool though but just personally not for me

Not going to ask the names, since you haven't already put them, I'm guessing you don't want to say but what are the style of names your matching too?

Edenember · 07/05/2020 20:56

@sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav 2 girls - one is a very classic and widely used very feminine name ending in -a, been popular for years was popular in my generation and still is now. The other is a more recently used variant of a very classic name ending in -ie which has a vintagey feel. Both girly names but not extremely frilly xx

Edenember · 07/05/2020 21:01

@Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav so basically I’d like to take a departure from both styles but also obviously has to work with them and can’t sound completely stupid next to them... so nothing too mental. 😂

Edenember · 07/05/2020 21:03

@Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav I think really from my whittled down list Eliza and Freya would be the best ones in terms of sitting next to these other 2 names. But I’m loving Rowena.

Edenember · 07/05/2020 21:07

@Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav weird thing is how long this list is - I literally have 2 boys names I like and would struggle to think of any others at all. Find boys names so difficult in one sense but also easier in terms of the pool I like being much much smaller 😂

OP posts:
Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 08/05/2020 08:36

😂 😂 😂 😂 Right, no problem easy then!! 😂 😂 😂
I know what you mean about boys names, I have 1boy, 2 girls, my youngest is nearly 10 so well and truly out of naming stage but remember being relieved when I found out I was having girls, just because there were so many more choices 😊
I really love Eliza, if I had another girl, it would be on my list, rowena really isn't to my taste but if you really like it, you could use it as a middle name

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 08/05/2020 08:37

Just out of curiosity, what boys names do you like?

Edenember · 08/05/2020 11:46

@Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav I have used 2 boys names already and my ones remaining are Gabriel and Seth.

OP posts:
Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 08/05/2020 12:40

I love Gabriel!!!! Quite like seth too, it's a bit different but without being too different if that makes sense!! 😂 😂 Gabriel seth sounds good together

YinMnBlue · 08/05/2020 12:59

Gabriel and Seth both very good names.

Also Jago and Caleb.

Edenember · 08/05/2020 13:01

@YinMnBlue one of those others you’ve listed is one that I’ve already used 😂

OP posts:
Edenember · 08/05/2020 15:40

@sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav Yeah, I tend to beef towards biblical for boys names for some reason, I think Seth is a nice choice, not too common, everyone knows how to say and spell it and it’s a ‘comfy’ name to wear. Think OH would need some
Convincing on both counts though, his taste is a lot more conservative than mine, he would probably consider them ‘out there’ even though to me they’re totally not.

OP posts:
Edenember · 08/05/2020 15:40

@Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav veer, not beef 😂

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 08/05/2020 16:26

Your braver than me, my kids names are considered safe, with one of my girls name, including middle name is often slated on here for being boring and over used!!!! 😂 😂 😂

Edenember · 08/05/2020 18:42

@Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav I think too many people feel they’re the gatekeepers of good taste, it’s a form of snobbery. Your child, your choice. You like what you like it’s as subjective as what kind of food we like or anything else. And some things we think are a little ‘different’ because they’re a fairly new variation of a classic or whatever sometimes turn out to be part of a huge trend... my little girls name ticks that box and at the time I thought it was a little different. Luckily I still love it but just goes to illustrate the point. At the end of the day names like Laura and Sarah would probably be most likely to have no one else in the class with the same name in the current climate. I’m just waiting for the day when our parents generation names like Susan come back around... can’t ever imagine it happening but it probably will.

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 08/05/2020 19:47

Of course it will, I remember an older couple asking me what my baby was called, also had my son with us so when I said there names they were surprised that we had chosen such traditional names!!! 😂 😂 😂 My mum was surprised when we named our 3rd as she said it didn't match the other two

Edenember · 08/05/2020 20:23

@Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav why didn’t they feel they matched, without telling me what they are? X

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 08/05/2020 20:50

If I can figure out how to private message I will do so I can give you the names...
