Arrietty's not made up, she's a character in the Borrowers.

That's where it was made up. The characters had weird names for things because they'd misheard what the big humans were saying.

It's a made up name for a character in a book where lots of things and people had made up names.

No awful names on your list except Luna. I like Louisa and Mary best.

Arrietty's parents were called Pod and Homily (funnily enough you never see those being suggested as baby names) and they thought big people were called human beans.

@peperethecat @VirginWestCoast the i is in Theia because it’s a different name to Thea. It’s pronounced Thay-a with a soft th.

Nancy, Daisy and Cecily are my faves. Cecily is so lovely. Also love Nina but not sure if that's on your list?

What is with the MN obsession with the name Clara? I swear it's on every other name thread! Really not keen!

@Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav a bit closer, I think for actual first name options I have - Erika, Eliza, Freyja, Rowena, Theia and Tilda. I love Eliza but terrified of it being shortened to Elle or Ellie . Lucinda was a close contender but vetoed due to Lucy nickname.

I DON’t foresee Eliza shortened to ellie, because emphasis is different. More likely Lize, sounding like lies, which would bring its own problems.
