Hiya,

Thoughts on Auron for a boy? Pronounced Au-ren/Au-run x

He’ll have a life of getting called Aaron.

ofwarren · 06/05/2020 01:55

It's a bit "fandom"
Just googled it and it's a character in DC comics and in the Final Fantasy video games.
People will also confuse it with Aaron so it's a no from me.

Pickles89 · 06/05/2020 02:03

Every single day of his adult life he'll be telling people, 'No, not Aaron, 'Auron, spelled...' which is going to get really, really tiresome.

whatausername · 06/05/2020 02:04

It's not the nicest sounding name. Au-ren. Blech.

My opinion ofc, if you love it go for it but it is a mouthful.

Wheresthebiffer2 · 06/05/2020 02:10

SORRY, not keen.

Headbangersandmash · 06/05/2020 02:12

I think most people will assume typo for Aaron.

babynamelover · 06/05/2020 02:13

It's okay I prefer Auberon 😃

DramaAlpaca · 06/05/2020 02:13

All I can think of when I look at it on the screen is Sauron from LOTR without the 'S'. Not great, sorry.

safariboot · 06/05/2020 02:14

I'd be tempted, but yeah, fandom. And spelling confusion.

SionnachRua · 06/05/2020 02:53

Says Final Fantasy to me but most people will think it's supposed to be Aaron. I wouldn't do it to your kid.

MintyMurray17 · 06/05/2020 03:46

I've not seen this name before - I like it! Auberon is a great suggestion, or Austin, August or Tauren Smile

Megan2018 · 06/05/2020 03:49

Horrid. Not my taste at all, just looks like a typo written down.

Spirali · 06/05/2020 08:06

I’m normally into these kinda names but this one just doesn’t sound right at all to me. If I was called Auron I’d just tell people my name was Aaron!

My OH suggested Tidus which I believe is also final fantasy. That’s a nice name.

I too like Auberon but I prefer it spelled Oberon (I have a friend with this name!)

I also like Aurelius with Auri for short Smile

shabbi · 06/05/2020 08:29

Not keen! Sorry.

DoctorBambino · 06/05/2020 10:11

Makes me think of final fantasy. I like it.

Buggedandconfused · 06/05/2020 10:13

No! He’ll be called Auron the moron at school!!

tryingtocatchthewind · 06/05/2020 10:16

I went straight to the scary eye thing from Lord of the Rings I’m afraid.

Mooncake2020 · 06/05/2020 12:16

Thanks everyone, much appreciated! It doesn't rhyme with moron, so don't think that would be an issue but can see Aaron being an issue. Will tell OH the Tidus suggestion thank you xx

I prefer Oren or Orrin

ADreamOfGood · 06/05/2020 13:40

Does it have a meaning? Like the golden one or something? It sounds like a 70s Sci-fi B movie character... Auron! Traveller from the stars!

unoeufisunoeuf1 · 06/05/2020 13:45

It sounds like a new model of hybrid car!

QQQQQQ123 · 06/05/2020 14:19

No! He’ll be called Auron the moron at school!!

he totally will

Spirali · 06/05/2020 18:20

@Mooncake2020 ooh yippee! Glad you like Tidus Grin ‘Ty’ or ‘Tide’ are the inevitable shortenings but I think they’re lovely Smile

AgeLikeWine · 06/05/2020 18:27

Auron sounds like a baddie in Dr Who, or alternatively a model of car. ‘I drive the new VW Auron’.

CodenameVillanelle · 06/05/2020 18:30

I'd pronounce it Ow-Ron not Au-ren
