Absolutely love Aurelia.

DoctorBambino · 30/04/2020 11:42

Aurelia is better. Florence might get nn flo which I dislike.

Mish85 · 30/04/2020 11:43

Both lovely, but I much prefer Florence. I taught an Aurelia last year and she often had her name mispronounced unfortunately.

ellenpartridge · 30/04/2020 11:45

Florence

LotusClover · 30/04/2020 11:47

Florence is beautiful. Aurelia is nice too, but I wouldn't know how to pronounce it.

Calyx72 · 30/04/2020 11:54

Florence

Dylanpickle · 30/04/2020 11:59

Genuinely both my absolute favourite names, though Florence pips it for me at the moment.

dietcokeandchill · 30/04/2020 12:14

Thank you! Glad no one was completely repulsed. My concern was the pronunciation of Aurelia ... I teach primary so didn’t want a top 10 name as I have always taught so many.

We also already have a 3 Year old called Rupert - another marmite choice I know Smile x

I’m not keen on Aurelia. Florence is better.

StampMc · 30/04/2020 12:18

I like Aurelia but not sure I’m saying it right (oar - rell - ee- ah ?)

I like Florence but really not keen on Flo.

florababy84 · 30/04/2020 12:23

I see Florence as a good strong name with no question marks. Flo isn't the best nickname but there are others, like Florrie or Flossie.

Aurelia is very pretty but to me it's more floaty and slightly confusing pronunciation. Doesn't mean not to use it but those are my impressions of the names.

dietcokeandchill · 30/04/2020 12:31

Thank you... I was thinking Aurelia would be Or ree lia but please someone correct me If I’m wrong!

If anyone has any other ideas I would be happy to hear x

I love Florence, Aurelia is nice too, but Florence is my favourite of the two.

123Dancewithme · 30/04/2020 14:18

Florence

KingaRoo · 30/04/2020 14:26

I know an Aurelia. Hers is pronounced oar-ray-lee-ah

EmpressMaudie · 30/04/2020 14:30

Florence is lovely. I can imagine Aurelia might be subject to mispronunciation, if that would be an issue for you.

EmpressMaudie · 30/04/2020 14:33

Oar-ray-lee-ah would be correct.

MikeUniformMike · 30/04/2020 14:49

Not keen on Aurelia - too similar to Amelia.

florababy84 · 30/04/2020 14:58

Yes I think it's pronounced aw-RAY-Lee-uh rather than a REE sound.

I only know it from Love Actually though!

TenThousandSpoons0 · 30/04/2020 23:25

Florence - was on our list :) I like Flo too.

dietcokeandchill · 30/04/2020 23:37

Thank you! Baby decided to surprise us a little early - was booked for section next week, but due to reduced movements and high heart rate they whipped her out today!!!!

Thank you for all your advice... still no closer to a decision as due to Covid my husband had to leave quite soon after!! At the moment she looks like a Florence to me though! Xx
