Just see what he looks like and decide between you after he’s born. A chap who likes traditional names is unlikely to agree to something you made up because you like the sound of it. You will both need to compromise and come up with something you both like - a recognizable but not too common name.

I must say I do love Cassius but probably coz I have one myself.
I'm glad it's getting suggested now and then as when I had him I got asked if I had made the name up Confused good luck with the birth, I'm sure when you see baby you will know exactly what to name him

Aclh13 · 11/05/2020 00:38

Cassius❌
Eliyas✔
Tareyon✔
Amari✔
Trey❌

Nancydrawn · 11/05/2020 04:49

I'm glad you've found something you like, OP.

Personally I'd be careful of things like Tareyon etc. as they sound Game of Thrones-y, which will no doubt soon sound very dated.

Good luck!

PS: if you do go Christopher, I'm always a sucker for Kit as a nickname.

You're welcome to like whatever you want, OP, of course. It's just what sprung to my mind when I saw it.

I do like the name Elias very much. Eli is a base for a lot of great names: Elijah (saw you thought that was too popular), Elihu (pronouned Ell-ih-hew), even Eliphaz.

And Cassius is a spectacular name. If you like classic Roman names and their derivations, you can also think about Lucian, Aurelius, Marius, or Felix.

Amari is also lovely. It's often a girl's name in the UK, but in America it's very much unisex--there's a great American football player named Amari Cooper, for example.
