I think most of MN dislike ‘unique’ spellings of names and feel they don’t do the child any favours. It’s a judgy thing, obviously, but unfortunately there may well be judgy people in your DC’s life who discriminate against him on that basis. Dante has the advantage of being unusual, but still vaguely familiar from Dante’s Inferno. Tareyon or Dareyon might be thought of as ‘made up.’

Right so my husband has really pissed me of. He just told me to stop obsessing about baby names !!? I was like wtf !
He said he’s said what he likes and his choice is Christopher, Alexander, trey
He said that’s the least of our worries till he’s here ! He doesn’t like none of my choice names so now I feel really upset I won’t be able to give him a different name !!

Can anyone help with any Arabic names please ? That could help Him change his mind, as our daughter has an Arabic name maybe I can convince. PLEASE HELP

OP I would leave names alone for a few days. A short break from looking sounds like it would benefit you both.

Sounds to me that you need to find a name in between your styles - something which isn't uber popular for you, but something which is established enough for your husband. You both need to compromise.

There's a huge range of names between Christopher and Alexander and Tareyon and Dante. You both need some time out and then to come back and look at names with fresh eyes.

When you do, download the ONS list of boys names used in 2018. There's around 5000 names on there, go through it separately and get some ideas.

Sorry op but wouldn't want to out myself - it's not made up but not popular at all and I've only ever known 1 other.

This must be fair for you and dh- it's not his choice or yours but both.

We had a list that we both agreed on- he would suggest things like Catherine (too popular/ used for me) and I'd suggest Sky- neither liked the other ones choice at all so both were off the list never to be considered again!

I wonder if your best option would be a longer classic name for the birth certificate that dh suggests but you shorten/ add bits to make his everyday name different. Then he also has the choice of 2 names.
Like one friends baby is Leonardo on bc but only ever Leo.

I don’t want him to have a first and middle long name, will be shorter first name and then I suppose Alex or chris will be the middle name. And yes I think a few days break is good thanks guys x
