My first baby came 2 weeks early and chose to arrive on Shakespeare's birthday this week! I'm an English teacher and love Shakespeare. I thought it might be an idea to give him a related middle name as tribute! Any ideas..?

William? Anthony? Henry? Bottom?

TFSRM · 25/04/2020 10:02

Sebastien, Benedict

Sebastian (Twelfth Night, The Tempest)
Julius (Ceasar)
Orlando (As You Like Itt)
Titus (Andronicus)
Ferdinand (Tempest)
Hugh (Henry VI)

I did know someone at school who had the middle name Montague. He was a mortified by it though Grin

*Caesar even

Which I suppose you could also use as a middle name.

Congratulations OP!

I've always had a soft spot for the name Benvolio (shortened to Ben), and Mercutio as well. These are pretty well known characters though so it will be obvious to most people where you've got these names from! Grin

ANoiseAnnoys · 25/04/2020 10:09

Ferdinand/Ferdy is nice.

Lol at Bottom!

Falstaff?
Shylock? Grin

Shakespeare? It would be a lot to live up to but it's pretty cool or Romeo 😘

AdaColeman · 25/04/2020 10:12

Edgar or Edmund

Francis for Sir Francis Walsingham or Edward for Edward Manners Earl of Rutland both patrons of Shakespeare.

Orlando.

My DTDs have Shakespearean middle names - Miranda and Ophelia.

They’re old enough now to think it’s cool Smile

It’s difficult, to be perfectly honest o struggle to think of a make Shakespeare character that I don’t dislike or find questionable at the very least. I would just opt for William.

Reginabambina · 25/04/2020 10:31

Crisis posted. I that case I guess it doesn’t really matter. Caliban would go well with Seth. Or Horatio.

TheSheepofWallSt · 25/04/2020 10:36

Titus is a great name- also see Titus Salt the industrialist who founded Saltaire in Yorkshire.

Shame that the character isnt great but if it’s just about the name... it’s a good one!

Mumma4262 · 25/04/2020 10:36

I think William is a great choice and more discreet rather than the more obvious “Romeo” or similar.

Twisique · 25/04/2020 10:52

Capulet
Shakespeare
