Names for a second girl...

We already have an Isabel and looking for second girl names.

We always loved Isabel, and while disheartened about its popularity, loved it so much more than any other names we used it anyway. Stuck about a second, though. Our surname is tricky - begins with S and ends with an "uh" sound, think a bit like Salter - so it's hard to find names that flow with it.

Our favourite and frontrunner is Rosa. We love Rose but don't think it works with the surname - Rosa is a question mark too but seems to work a little better? Not so keen on the other "Ros-" names. Rosanna and Rosemary are ok but we don't like them quite as much. Could we get away with Rose or Rosa?

We struggle to agree on any others - here's our combined list in no particular order, some DH loves and some I love (you can probably see two different types of taste here):
Fleur
Charlotte ("Lottie")
Delphine
Poppy
Liora
Lily
Ivy
Daphne
Isla
Iris
Thea
Ada
Jasmine
Eloise
Elodie
April
Niamh

We also had Elsa on our list for DD1 but an Isabel and then an Elsa (the same name, basically) seems a stretch too far!

Thanks in advance.

I’m interested to hear who likes what type of name out of you and DH

timetest · 24/04/2020 19:27

You have some lovely names on your list. I love Delphine and Eloise. How about Rosalind for the Rose name.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 24/04/2020 19:27

Oh I thought Poppy when I read Isabel and glad to see it's on your list.

userabcname · 24/04/2020 19:31

I like Rose or Rosa best! I think it will be fine with your surname.

TenShortStories · 24/04/2020 19:35

How similar to Salter is your surname? Because I think Rose Salter sounds better than Rosa Salter, personally.

Standrewsschool · 24/04/2020 19:40

Delphine - unusual and gorgeous

Eloise - always been a favourite of mine

Isabel and Isla - too similar. Both Izzy nicknames.

Iris - also Izzy nickname?

Have you considered?
Daisy
Willow
Myrtle
Yasmin
Dorothea (nn Thea)
Adeline (nn Ada)

Flymetothestars · 24/04/2020 19:52

How about Rosanne or Roxanne

Flymetothestars · 24/04/2020 19:53

Clementine or Felicity or Sadie or Martha or Margot go with your style I think

daisydalrymple · 24/04/2020 19:53

Rosina is another ‘Rose’ alternative, I only know one, but always thought it a pretty name. (But I love all rose names! DC3 would have been Rosie Eleanor if a girl).
Love many names on your list.

Jossina · 24/04/2020 20:11

Rosamund
Tamara
Kathryn
Vivianne
Maud

GinUnicorn · 24/04/2020 20:13

Love your names!

As a few other ideas

Mariana
Miranda
Roxanna
Rosalie

Roselilly36 · 24/04/2020 20:13

Roselilly36 · 24/04/2020 20:14

Mirabelle is another girls name I liked,

My top 3 are
Delphine, Lily and Jasmine
Not necessarily in that order!

samandpoppysmummy · 24/04/2020 21:48

Poppy 😁

My DD is Poppy and I still love it just as much 13 years later (and she loves her name too).

BikeRunSki · 24/04/2020 21:54

Rosita is a very underused “Rose” name, and breaks up the sssssss between Rose and Salter.

MadeForThis · 24/04/2020 22:22

Roise ( rosha)

Raina

RoseMartha · 24/04/2020 22:30

Ellmau · 24/04/2020 23:11

Rosabel?

SquirtleSquad · 24/04/2020 23:12

Jasmine, Poppy or Ivy! Lovely.

Ellmau · 24/04/2020 23:14

Oops, just realised you already have an Isabel, I read too fast and thought you'd rejected it as a name for this baby.

Rose or Rosa would be OK I think, it's a harder s than the soft S of Salter/variant.

Flora?
