Ivo + ?

DS is called Ivo, which we see as being an unusual, but known, energetic sounding name. We wouldn't want a sibling to feel short-changed, so would be keen for something that fits this kind of bill. Ideally we want a name that works in French. Names we like but don't necessarily feel 100% right include:

Girls

  • Beatrix (don't like Trixie as a nn)
  • Flora
  • Hermione
  • Anaïs (worried about pronunciation in the UK)

Boys

  • Jasper
  • Caspar
  • Thibault
  • Ludovic
  • Basil (but dislike the nn Baz)

If you know an Ivo, what are his siblings called? Do you have any suggestions for us?

Thanks!

No ideas for boys but I think

Juliet

Barbara

Henrietta

would all work well with Ivo (and would provide nice diminutives too).

Astrid
Cassia

Soren
Cosmo

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 24/04/2020 09:20

Surely you wouldn't choose a second boy's name ending in 'o'?

NameChange30 · 24/04/2020 09:22

I love Ivo!
My DS is called Saul.
I also like Max although it's more common than Ivo, of course.
Personally I think Thibault is too French (we're a bilingual family but live in England).

For girls, I am actually expecting one atm, and I love Anais but I've ruled it out because English speakers would struggle with pronunciation. I am considering Inès which I think is a bit easier but still hesitating. Also like Mia but it is very popular.

Ivo is our boys name (don’t yet know what we’re having) and this is the rest of my list, assuming we may have similar tastes. Though I’ve resigned myself only one boys name ending in o is allowed so Jago and Cosmo are probably out now.

Jasper also on the list but I seem to have not copied it!

BuffaloCauliflower · 24/04/2020 14:56

I don’t know any Ivo’s though Smile

@BuffaloCauliflower lovely list! How about Otto

paradisefalls · 24/04/2020 16:31

Beatrix with nn bea (bay)

Not keen on your boys names but asa (pronounces acer) goes well with ivo.

BuffaloCauliflower · 24/04/2020 17:05

@paradisefalls Bea wouldn’t be pronounced Bay, it’s pronounced Bee

@Whatsyourflava thanks!

Louise0701 · 24/04/2020 17:07

There was an Ivo in my DD nursery class with 2 brothers; Xavier and Zephan (Zeph)

HeavyDeuty · 24/04/2020 17:44

Sounds like we have very similar tastes BuffaloCauliflower! Lovely list Smile. I especially like Jemima, Penelope and Cressida from your list. Are you finding out if it's a boy or a girl?

Thanks so much for all your suggestions, I really appreciate it! Some of the ones I like are:

  • Felix - but worried about popularity
  • Rudy - but in French?!
  • Barnaby - as above
  • Rufus - as above
  • Bertie - don't love Albert or other 'bert' names
  • Gus - quite like Augustus...
  • Xavier - DH doesn't like it sadly
  • Greta - probably quite popular in the years to come..
  • Martha - popular
  • Miranda - can't decide how much I like this if you know what I mean! I need to mull it over for a few days..
  • Camille - not keen on Millie
  • Kitty - can't think of a long version I love

Please do keep any suggestions coming, it's so helpful! Thanks!
