Really struggling with girls names but the only one I keep coming back to is Nola, what are your thoughts?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PhoebeFriends · 23/04/2020 09:22

Instant reaction is I like it

Settlersofcatan · 23/04/2020 09:25

I think it's ok but suspect she would spend a lot of time saying "not Lola, Nola" through the course of her life.

Theyweretheworstoftimes · 23/04/2020 09:27

NOLA is an acronym for

New Orleans , Louisiana

Just a thought for you.

Blursula · 23/04/2020 09:39

Sorry but I instantly imagine a tooth. I know that’s a molar, but that’s what I picture!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 23/04/2020 09:40

Nope!

Insideallday · 23/04/2020 09:45

Nola is a lovely name, I’m fond of it. My cousin is Finola (Irish), she is called Nola by everyone.

JKScot4 · 23/04/2020 09:46

Really like it.

JemimaPuddleCat · 23/04/2020 09:47

I like it.

MamaCoco123 · 23/04/2020 09:47

I quite like it. Did you get it from the novel "the truth about the Harry Quebert affair"?

Ughmaybenot · 23/04/2020 09:48

New Orleans is my first thought. I don’t love the name tbh but I do love Nora, which is very similar so I’m not sure why Nola doesn’t sit right. It’s a bit of a dogs name to my ear.

Namechangewhy · 23/04/2020 09:55

Love it. I know someone with this name and liked her before I’d met her, just because of the name Grin

peachgreen · 23/04/2020 09:56

I think I prefer Nora and Nuala but it's lovely!

TheClootieDumplin · 23/04/2020 09:57

Nola is a lovely name.

Barkingfuckingdogs · 23/04/2020 09:58

I just think cola.

millymaple · 23/04/2020 09:58

I think people will constantly assume they’ve misheard it, and I don’t really like it sorry.

Elouera · 23/04/2020 10:00

I too would initially think its supposed to be Lola! She will be forever correcting people. Sorry, but I think of an 80yr old chain smoker! (No idea why, just associate it with very elderly women!)

happystory · 23/04/2020 10:03

I like it. I also know a Noa...

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 23/04/2020 10:07

I really like it.

samandpoppysmummy · 23/04/2020 10:10

I also wondered, as soon as I saw the post, if you got the name from The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair :)

I think it's a pretty name, although I hadn't heard of it before reading the book.

babynamelover · 23/04/2020 10:37

I love it. It's very close to my youngest name we had it on our list for #1.
I also like Finola and Fionnuala 😍

WendyDarling888 · 23/04/2020 10:59

Awful (sorry). I find the 'No' sound at the beginning of a name jarring.

She will forever be correcting people thinking her name is Lola.

emmathedilemma · 23/04/2020 11:10

Exactly my reaction @Elouera sounds like your granny's friend from Bingo!

Insideallday · 23/04/2020 11:11

WendyDarling888. My cousin has never once had to correct people thinking her name is Lola.

WendyDarling888 · 23/04/2020 11:16

Insideallday I think your cousin is very lucky then. Lola is a lot more popular than Nola so I cannot see someone called Nola not being confused and miscalled Lola.

Whatsyourflava · 23/04/2020 12:29

Nora
Nina ?
