Sadie?

User1704 · 17/04/2020 21:56

I posted a couple weeks ago asking for help with old lady names. My little girl made an early appearance and still has no name. I think Sadie is my favourite but still not 100%

What do people think of Sadie? After honest opinions either way. Just want to know what people think of the name.

I can tell my mam doesn’t like it but is being polite and keeping her mouth shut. In laws don’t like it and keep sending different names.
I know it doesn’t matter what other people think I’m just not confident myself

OP posts:

I like it, I like the sound it makes. I think it was an American shortening of Sarah, but like Sally I see it as a stand-alone name now. I do think of the St. Clares character “Sadie says, Sadie says, what does Sadie say?!” but I can’t imagine that will be a general reaction!

I think its lovely but you aren't going to be able to please everybody. If your little one feels like a Sadie to you then stick with it. We planned on calling our daughter a name but when she was born we looked at her and it just didnt feel right.

Also congratulations!

FizzyBug · 17/04/2020 22:08

I like it, I think it's a great name!

I wouldn't share any names with family until you've decided, otherwise you'll constantly doubt yourself.

Congratulations Smile

I think it's a really nice name OP. Good choice.

celebrityskin · 17/04/2020 22:10

Lovely name.

Dimosaur · 17/04/2020 22:12

Yep I like it. Different. Not overly used.

hellowembley · 17/04/2020 22:13

I love Sadie, my grandmother’s name. Just the right balance of old lady and cool.

WomanIsTaken · 17/04/2020 22:16

Gorgeous!

MegUffin · 17/04/2020 22:16

Love that you call it an " old lady name"

Brilliant! 😆

Insideout99 · 17/04/2020 22:18

Moonflower12 · 17/04/2020 22:20

Blueblackrose · 17/04/2020 22:25

Love it - it sounds a friendly name and also classy and suits a little girl and a grown woman.

Carolwithane · 17/04/2020 22:26

One of my favourite people is actually called Sandra however is universally known as Sadie. She is awesome and very cool Smile

Costacoffeeplease · 17/04/2020 22:35

Can’t bear it but because it has connotations for me, and a particularly odious person but I can see why it could be attractive without that connection

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 17/04/2020 22:37

I love it! I taught a Sadie a few years ago and she was lovely too!

DariaMorgendorffer · 17/04/2020 22:37

Love it

I ADORE it and would love to use this if I have another daughter , I’d say it’s one of my top favourite names and very underused. Lovely 🥰

But agree with the poster above, you’ll never ever find a name that’s unanimously loved. Older generations in particular sometimes just need to hear a name a few times before they “get” it. Once they’re familiar with the name Sadie I bet they’ll love it.

fluffy71 · 17/04/2020 22:43

I love it! It’s a form of Sarah

clpsmum · 17/04/2020 22:45

Gorgeous name and congratulation

Throughabushbackwards · 17/04/2020 22:46
