I really like it. And some of the posts are so rude. It's common in the Netherlands. That doesn't make it a girls' name because it sounds like an English word. It's a name in its own right.

Going against the grain, I love Floris. Floris has always sounded masculine to me and I don’t have any connection to the Netherlands.

Just heard Professor Karol Sikora on Radio 2. That's Karol. Not a girl.

Just makes me think of a florist, not keen.

Screw those people who say it's a girls name. I love the tv show! I like it and say your son will be fine with it.

Why do people get so turned off and “disgusted” by names from other countries?

I think it would be fine if you were staying in the Netherlands, but growing up is hard and children are cruel. I'd pick something that reflects your origins but won't cause your child unnecessary difficulty where he will grow up. I did similar with my children and we are a mixed family.

If you want to subject him to a life time of bullying. Go for it ...sorry I'm a jaded teacher
