Isla or Etta

We are struggling to name our new baby and can't decide between Isla or Etta.

Which do you prefer?

Isla

Isla by a long way, despite its popularity. It's lovely.

I don't like Etta, it's harsh sounding and looks unfinished.

I like Isla better, but there's eleventy billion little Islas round my way.

I have an Isla, but these days I would go with Etta. I didn't think of it at the time.

I really love Etta and it was my grandma's but it shares the name of the paramilitary group Eta and I couldn't see past that. shame because I loved it.

Etta, Isla is beautiful but it’s the 3rd most popular girls name in the Uk.

Isla is way, way too popular and you will notice it even more so if you go with the name. I quite like Etta but I don't love it.

Both lovely but Etta is just beautifully unique.

What about Ettie instead? A bit softer and more unusual without being out there.

Isla is lovely and not as popular as it used to be, name has been on a downward trajectory year on year since 2014

Absolutely love Etta. Isla is so popular it would put me off. It’s pretty though

Definitely Etta, I’ve never been too keen on Isla and it’s super popular. How about Iona? Similar vibe to Isla I think but much nicer

If you're worried about the popularity of Isla, my Isla is 5, she's the only Isla in her class. I know 1 other Isla. And a slightly older Ailla pronounced the same (Cornish). I occasionally hear other parents with Isla's out and about.

I like them both. Where I’m from some people ( me) don’t always pronounce their Ts. So Etta will end up being no so nice.

Etta. I love it and am considering it as a girls name for current pregnant. DH less keen though.
