I wrote a post earlier asking for names to go with our DS1, Kit. Bodhi came up and we love it!

I appreciate it is a Sanskrit name but what are your feelings about the alternative spellings?

Bodhi
Bodie
Bodi
Bode

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Spell it Bodhi
I really dislike it but I think you should spell it properly!

PlantPotting · 02/04/2020 14:32

I personally spell it Bodhi and I LOVE IT

bridgetreilly · 02/04/2020 15:26

Bodhi Zen Clinics are all over the place round here. So, um, yeah. That?

Flymetothestars · 02/04/2020 15:45

Love the name Bodhi !!
Such a strong choice. One of my favs.
I know a little toddler Bodhi (friend of a friend) and his name completely suits him! I was a bit unsure at first but now absolutely love it. He sometimes gets called Bode by his parents

iklboo · 02/04/2020 15:46

Not Bode. That looks like 'doesn't bode well'.

UpToonGirl · 02/04/2020 15:49

Love Bodhi - I wanted to use it but DH wasn't convinced!

Coffeenofilter · 02/04/2020 15:52

I'd read Bodie and Bodi as "body" I think...

Bode I'd read as...Bode...

I'd read Boady, boadi, boadee as "Bodhi", but those look ridiculous...!

Bodhi is a nice name, if the correct speaking is used.

caffeinefix · 02/04/2020 15:52

I know five little boys called Bodhi. All under the age of 3yrs. It's getting popular.

caffeinefix · 02/04/2020 15:53

And they're all spelt Bodhi.

goodthanks · 02/04/2020 16:02

I like Brodie! Nice Scottish name.

Flymetothestars · 02/04/2020 16:10

@caffeinefix it’s nearly outside the top 200 names and currently on a downward trajectory (source: official gov statistics for England and Wales)

caffeinefix · 02/04/2020 16:18

Fair enough - not what I'm seeing though.

TeddyBeans · 02/04/2020 16:22

I know a Bodhi 😊 it was a name (with that spelling) I put forward for DS too ❤️

The only Bode I have ever seen is Bode Miller, the skiier

PlantPotting · 02/04/2020 17:57

If you don’t believe in Buddhist transmigration then it’s a bit of a pointless name.

AlecOrAlonzo · 02/04/2020 18:02

We watched Point Break the other night. Quality movie. I miss Patrick Swayze.

daisypond · 02/04/2020 18:03

I strongly dislike it. I find it weak, and even offensive - unless you’re Buddhist. Perhaps Bodie as a surname-type name is OK.

DarkDarkNight · 02/04/2020 18:06

I like it, I know a little Bodhi and think it’s a nice name. I prefer it spelt that way, it looks better.

oneglassatatime · 02/04/2020 18:16

My daughters name is Bodhi, and theres one other child in her nursery with the same name

EasyTarget · 02/04/2020 18:17

I like it. Bodhi.

NemophilistRebel · 02/04/2020 18:18

It’s seemingly quite popular in the toddler ages at the moment
Not my favourite of names But I would spell it Bodhi

knightlight · 02/04/2020 18:23

Love Bodhi.

Not Bode

myidentitymycrisis · 02/04/2020 18:36

People of a certain age will remember The Professionals

myidentitymycrisis · 02/04/2020 18:36
