Help! No name :(

Baby boy is due in 3 weeks and we don't have a name for him, not even any potentials.

We had one that we absolutely loved, but can no longer call him that and now nothing else feels right.

We want something short, unusual, and love nature inspired names if anyone can think of any suggestions?

Thank you Grin

Do you have any other children, if so what are their names? What type of names do your nephews and nieces have e.g. biblical, Muslim, Jewish, french?

PleaseStopCrying · 16/03/2020 11:41

Why can't you use the name you loved? Personally if there was nothing else we liked as much I'd use the original name regardless. You will have to say this name millions of times over his lifetime sometimes hundreds in one day Grin so if nothing else make sure its something you love.

Colt
Eagle
Woody

Littlelittlelittle no other children and no nieces or nephews. We're a blank canvas.

These were my exact thoughts at first, but as time goes on I'm just starting to doubt that we could. But at the same time I worry that we'll always wish we had if we don't.

What was the name you loved?

Unless it was Corona or something which is now a bit taboo, why can’t you use it?

dearyme89 · 16/03/2020 11:50

Standrewschool thank you! There's some nice suggestions there. We had already mentioned Forrest and liked it but wasn't 100%.

In my albeit limited experience from friends who've not used a much loved name you will regret not using the name. The issue you thought was so important that madd you consider not using it simply won't matter in a few months time, but not using the name will probably stay with you forever and everytime you hear it, it'll bring all that regret for not using it flooding back.

dearyme89 · 16/03/2020 11:55

TerribleCustomerCervix I wasn't going to put the original name, because I've seen it mentioned on here before all of this and it got a real bashing even then because people don't like it, just different tastes I suppose, but you're real close. Think along the lines of the other name for Corona Sad

I know a lovely Thorne.

dearyme89 · 16/03/2020 11:59

Quizeerascal I like wylder!

Ah no! Really feel for you OP, that is proper shit.

If it’s that similar, it’s better that you know now rather than when baby is six months old. Think of all those little girls called Isis!

What kind of names do you like?

dearyme89 · 16/03/2020 12:09

TerribleCustomerCervix I know! And we've been calling it him for months so it already feels like his nameSad. That's very true though, it would be worse then.

Quite short names as we have a long surname, and just unusual really Smile

Cbeebiesrehab · 16/03/2020 13:17

I honestly can’t think of a name similar to Corona? Is it that obvious or could you potentially be overthinking it? It would be a shame not to use a name you love!

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 16/03/2020 13:21

Were you going to call him Corvid?? Shock

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 16/03/2020 13:22

On another note, we're in the same boat. Cannot think of a single boys name that we like. It's frustrating!

dearyme89 · 16/03/2020 13:30

It was going to be Cove (I like unusual). But now we're stuck.

dearyme89 · 16/03/2020 13:33

Littleboyjuly2020 I find boys names so hard. I could have chosen 1000 girls names by now!

OP posts:
Blursula · 16/03/2020 13:37

Cove is nice! I say go for it.

Other short nature names:

Asa / Acer
Heath
Chase
Bay
Reef
Aspen
Eden

dearyme89 · 16/03/2020 13:43

Thanks Blursula, there's some lovely names there. I'm going to make a list of the possibles to show the hubby when he gets home.

I might be alone here, but I would hear Cove and immediately think of Covid 19. Especially in the context of someone’s name.

Unless you were thinking of using Nineteen as a middle name that is.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 16/03/2020 13:46

Wouldn’t!!!!!!

Ffs typo!

I don’t think it’s that clear a connection OP.

MrsP2015 · 16/03/2020 13:49

I think Cove is lovely!
It is a risk though. Maybe middle name cove?

dearyme89 · 16/03/2020 13:49

TerribleCustomerCervix oh really? That's what hubby says too but I thought everyone would associate it with that. (Starting to feel hope)

Haha id definitely be giving the 19 a miss.

OP posts:
Cbeebiesrehab · 16/03/2020 13:49

Really wouldn’t think of Covid from Cove. I think you should go for it.
