Caleb or Evan

So our sweet little boy is 10 days and we really need to decide on his name. It will definately be Caleb or Evan. Which do you prefer of the two? Feel like we are going around in circles!! Thanks in advance

Posted too soon, sorry. Caleb is lovely. Would have wanted this if our current pregnancy was a boy and if a family member hadn't used it too!

Both lovely but I prefer Evan. (It's an Irish saint's name, spelled Eimhin). Congrats!!

It was one of 2 names we had picked out if #2 had been a boy.

But much prefer Caleb ❤️ Just really love the sound of the name and the “b” at the end. Just a bit different. Evan sounds more of a nothing name to be and a bit ‘meh’ and similar to other sounding names (I still like it though)

DC2 was going to be Evan but she was a she.

The Calebs I've known (I work in a primary school) have not endeared me to the name.

Caleb as with Evan the first thing that comes to mind is the surname Evans. Although I do understand now that its a first name, but the rather dull surname is my first association.

Agree with PPs Evan is an ok name but a bit ‘meh’, a bit more of a surname or filler sound to it. Nothing special, similar sounding to a host of other names but generally ok

Caleb has a really lovely sound to it and I love the history of the name. I just find the name a bit more special than Evan/Evans
