I only like Eli or Charlie. The rest are not my taste. Eli is on my list too - it's nice! Charlie is a classic that isnt personally on my list but I can see the appeal. The others seem a bit trendy or dont sound good to me personally but to each their own.

So you have a middle name? Sometimes a good pairing of a first and middle name can make me love a name I wouldn't have previously considered!

Whatsyourflava · 23/02/2020 09:32

Gosh I really love your list @LeviJeans11 it’s got some absolute crackers on it, and lots of my favourite names!

  • Eli - 😍Love (favourite)
  • Charlie - Love
  • Asa - growing on me but probably wouldn’t pick
-Oscar - Love -Asher - growing on me
  • Elis - 😍absolutely love (joint fav) but is spell with two L’s
dementedma · 23/02/2020 09:37

Personally I only like Eli or Charlie as second choice.

CMMum88 · 23/02/2020 09:57

I like Asher and know a lovely one x

Nowayorhighway · 23/02/2020 10:00

I only like Eli and Oscar.

Mamabear88 · 23/02/2020 10:01

I like Elis best. Then Eli. Then Asher. Oscar sounds like a cat name. I really hate the name Charlie. And never heard of Asa but it sounds feminine to me.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 23/02/2020 11:53

Like Oscar and Asher, not fussed on the other names...

LeviJeans11 · 23/02/2020 11:53

Thanks all for feedback.
Thanks Whatsyourflava Smile

Bit of a mixed bag with what ppl like but really helpful x

Ellis, but with 2 l's

FizzyGreenWater · 23/02/2020 11:58

Bucking the trend - I can't stand Eli! The whiniest sounding name ever.

Like Asa but like others probably wouldn't pick (no good short form) so would go for Oscar.

Classic but not boring, easy to spell, Oz, Osc and Ozzie good nns.

LeviJeans11 · 23/02/2020 11:58

With Elis it will only be one 'l'
I don't know if that changes ppls opinion

OP posts:
FizzyGreenWater · 23/02/2020 11:59

Oh and Charlie is ok but dull, Asher I don't like as can't bear names with 'Ash' in them - reminds me of fags. Elis is a bit nothing (again, I'd spell Ellis).

FizzyGreenWater · 23/02/2020 12:00

Yes definitely, you read it as Ee-lis (starting with the eee sound rather than Eh). Unless that's what you want?

EmmaC78 · 23/02/2020 12:01

I don't like Asa or Asher but the rest are fine. Charlie is the one I prefer.

babycakes1010 · 23/02/2020 12:02

Elis....but think spelt Ellis

LeviJeans11 · 23/02/2020 12:12

No, definitely Elis (with that spelling).

FizzyGreenWater if you hate my names why comment? Confused we don't have the same taste and my query was which do you like the best but all of them.

OP posts:
autumnkate · 23/02/2020 12:29

Asa, definitely.

Eli is whiny sounding.
Elis - how do want it pronounced because I would say Ee- lis

FizzyGreenWater · 23/02/2020 14:07

Sorry to have offended you OP. Your request was to help narrow the names down, which I'd take as telling you which one the favourite might be but also perhaps more importantly to tell you which ones would be off the list and why. Tbh I think one of the best thing about baby names is that people will tell you why they dislike names and give you perhaps sometimes more useful opinions than you'll get face to face, especially once you tell people what is on your list.

I don't hate all your names - but I've tried to give you actual reasons for not liking the ones I don't like rather than saying I just hate them Confused

But anyway, good luck and I am sorry to have annoyed you.

CaffiSaliMali · 23/02/2020 14:08

Elis with one L is the Welsh spelling. Perfectly valid spelling (Ll is a letter in its own right in Welsh, and pronounced very differently to L - Ellis with two LLs in Welsh would sound nothing like Elis).

I like Asa best, then Elis and then Oscar. Not a big fan of Charlie or Eli, the former as so popular and the latter as the only Eli I have met insisted it was pronounced Ellie and shouted at anyone who said 'Ee lie'!

EngagedAgain · 23/02/2020 14:18

Elis, if not Charlie

BabyLlamaZem · 23/02/2020 14:26
  • Charlie
-Elis -Eli -Asher
  • Asa
-Oscar
itsgettingweird · 23/02/2020 14:36

Elis but spelt Ellis.
Charlie
Oscar
Asher
Asa

I actually am not keen on last two tbh.

itsgettingweird · 23/02/2020 14:38

Sorry top choice was Elis or Eli. Like them both the same and very similar.

userabcname · 23/02/2020 14:39

I like Oscar and Eli best.

missanony · 23/02/2020 14:44

Eli for me.

I know oscar and Charlie are nice names but they sound like animal names
