I have a boy called Sebastian and 'Id love to call my girl Isabelle. Would you automatically think of Belle and Sebastian; either the cartoon or the band? My husband is not a big music fan or knows the cartoon but can't help thinking people might think I'm a mega fan. 😂 I enjoyed their music in my youth.

Was that the programme with the Snowy white horses song ?

😁😁that tv prog would be 'The White Horses'.

Redshoeblueshoe · 22/02/2020 23:15

Thanks Willow.
Great names OP

fanniboz · 22/02/2020 23:18

They're both nice names. Never heard of the band or anything, only makes me think of my dog who is named Belle Grin

S0upertrooper · 22/02/2020 23:42

I'd think of the band who, incidentally were my neighbours!

Isawthathaggis · 23/02/2020 00:00

I’ve just had twins and now kicking myself I didn’t name them Isabelle and Sebastian.
But also, being a 90’s kid and from Glasgow, I would expect to be laughed at by my peers for it. It’s like a cool version of Tia and Maria. Or Jack and Daniel. Or topsey and tim

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 23/02/2020 11:56

Yep, immediately thought of the band, sorry.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 23/02/2020 12:02

I'd think of the tv series with the big dog.

SwedishEdith · 23/02/2020 12:03

Me too loved that programme i wanted one of those dogs! Still.remember the theme tune.😁

I linked to the tune earlier - it's so lovely Smile. I can still "hear" his voice calling "Belle, Belle" Grin

FizzyGreenWater · 23/02/2020 12:03

Totally think of the band, and you could not ever move to Glasgow, but LOVE the names together so do it (and it's a pretty good band to (accidentally) reference)

MyNewBearTotoro · 23/02/2020 12:05

I love the band but if you said your children were ‘Sebastian and Isabelle’ with nicknames Seb and Izzy I don’t think I would make the connection. They’re a great band anyway so I don’t think you need to worry.

Mamato2gorgeousboys · 23/02/2020 12:09

I’ve never heard of either. Both are lovely names Smile

chipshopElvis · 23/02/2020 12:20

I would assume you were a Superfan of the band, but they're fairly niche so most wouldn't notice.

FelicityFebruary · 23/02/2020 12:23

I too can hear that voice!

It was my favourite programme and led me into to skiing after growing up totally non sporty in an inner city.
It changed my life materially, which is weird thinking on it.

overthinkingismymiddlename · 23/02/2020 15:25

Thank you all so much for your comments. It's made me feel so much more comfortable with it. I'd probably got for Isabella. Issy as a nickname. Xx

Willow I stand corrected Smile. I used to love that programme as a kid

TatianaLarina · 23/02/2020 16:32

I’d think immediately of the beautiful black and white TV series. But then I was in love with Sebastian when I was 5.

TatianaLarina · 23/02/2020 16:33

(But your DD isn’t actually Belle).

BelfastNonBlonde · 23/02/2020 16:37

Yes I would think of the band - but they’re not that well know generally and time is passing...
They’re nice names so go for it!

Teenagedream · 23/02/2020 16:38

Definitely the old TV series. Loved it though. Lovely music together with a cute boy and a wonderful dog. Love the names too.

mytypeonpaper · 23/02/2020 16:50

I don't know the band but I'd assume you were a big Disney fan

TatianaLarina · 23/02/2020 17:12

Lovely music

Yes the music was great.

ladycarlotta · 23/02/2020 23:26

I'm a fan of the band and I'd think it was quite funny but I would get over it pretty quickly. It's not ridiculous, particularly, as PPs have said, as Sebastian will usually come first.

ZebraKid71 · 24/02/2020 12:02

I'd think of the band (but I love them and both names are really nice).

I tend to refer to sibsets in age order so I'd say Sebastian and Isabelle, which on first hearing I probably wouldn't notice, unlike if you said (Isa)belle and Sebastian.

I think spelling it Isobel, or using Issy/Izzy as a nn would also avoid it.

I used to have cats named Belle and Sebastian!

Rocketinapocket · 24/02/2020 12:04

Band and cartoon. But I think it’s acceptable.

diddlediddle · 24/02/2020 12:28

Yes I'd think of the band but it's not a bad thing. What is a bad thing is how many children are called Isabelle 😫 it's literally everyone, and it's such a sickly name... I know you're saying it's a family name but couldn't it be a middle name? Or at least use the spelling Isobel or something.
