Serafina Jasmine?

I've been really stuck on Serafina. And I like this spelling as well. But pairing with a middle is hard for this name.

Serafina Jasmine kinda struck me but I dont usually like Jasmine all that much! Does this flow or are there other middles that work well?

I’d spell it Seraphina as I think the f looks funny.

Seraphina Jasmine sounds ok but I think I’d have a simpler middle name.

MorningNinja · 16/02/2020 19:03

It sounds like quite a mouthful.

lollybee1 · 16/02/2020 19:06

I think it's lovely.

Scardanelli · 16/02/2020 19:07

Nice, but I'd spell Seraphina properly.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 16/02/2020 19:09

Yeah. That is the tough thing about Serafina. For some reason a mouthful on it's own. Plus our last name is a mouthful too. So I'm not sure its usable for me. Was curious what middle names go well with it. I dont like common/filler middle names like Rose or Grace!

Jasmine is only two syllables so I thought it might work!! But it's hard to find a name that works. I was just throwing it out to see what middles you guys think! I like the spelling Serafina but that isnt really the debate at this stage in the game. Trying to see if I can find a usable middle.

I do think Serafina is gorgeous if I can get it to flow! I love the meaning. I like the Italian spelling for family reasons but shortening it even just a bit is a plus to me!

The f works fine in Italy, but in the U.K. I think it will prompt people to say Sera fin a rather than Sera pheen a.

EssentialHummus · 16/02/2020 19:21

All fine bar the spelling imo.

Scardanelli · 16/02/2020 19:22

If there is an Italian connection, that is obviously different when it comes to spelling. Apologies for being presumptuous.

Serafina Valentina?

My DD has several names which are all a bit of a mouthful. I chose them because I love them all. Surname is also a mouthful (DH and I are both double-barrelled, so we had quite a pick of surnames).

Serafina would probably be abbreviated to Fee/Fi/Fifi/Feedle-dee (the ones I know of are all abbreviated by school friends, if not by their parents).

When I was at school, girls were known by all kinds of names (Bodge, Totters, etc), which didn't even bear any relation to their actual names, so I'm not sure why anyone bothers naming children. DS has a friend called Cloudy Meatballs.

Bear in mind that if you like Jasmine as a middle name, you don't need to lose too much sleep over it. Most middle names are never used - it's just the Daily Fail that uses children's middle names. In real life, it's just official documents and school registers.

Onceuponatimethen · 16/02/2020 19:22

I think it needs to be ph in Britain not Serafina

You need a one syllable name after it like:

Seraphina May
Seraphina Rae
Seraphina Rose (I know you don’t like this name but it sounds great)

Onceuponatimethen · 16/02/2020 19:23

Ah just saw you have Italian family - understood about f spelling then

Onceuponatimethen · 16/02/2020 19:23

What about a short Italian middle name?

Onceuponatimethen · 16/02/2020 19:24

Serafina Rosa
Serafina Stella
Serafina Maria

Onceuponatimethen · 16/02/2020 19:25

Serafina Sarav

Onceuponatimethen · 16/02/2020 19:25

Sara

This ^ made me laugh. So true!

How about:

Serafina Iris
Serafina Claire

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 16/02/2020 19:27

Thanks for understanding about the f! Btw, I am in love with the nickname Fee (Fi). That is so cute!!

Serafina Valentine (pronounced Valen-teen) is kinda cute also!

I love Italian names but I dont want it to end in another "a" is the whole thing!

OP posts:
Rachelhaydenberk1 · 16/02/2020 19:29

Oooh Serafina Iris is pretty! Like that one!

OP posts:
Scardanelli · 16/02/2020 19:32

Oh no, OP, all the 'a' names together are glorious. Embrace it!

and hope your DD is not known as Bodge

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 16/02/2020 20:06

I could potentially embrace a middle name ending in a if it felt right. I've always been told to not end or start a middle name in the same letter or sound the first name ends with so it's a hard rule to break. But with names there are no actual rules right!

OP posts:
Scardanelli · 16/02/2020 20:12

QUite right, OP. My DD's names are all long, and all end with 'a'!

user1493494961 · 16/02/2020 21:55

A bit frilly.

MorningNinja · 16/02/2020 22:06

Whilst I said it sounds like a mouthful, @scardanelli your suggestion of Serafina Valentina has a lovely ring to it.

Scardanelli · 16/02/2020 22:43

It makes me want to name another DD @MorningNinja

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 16/02/2020 22:51

I'm okay with frilly. I like really feminine names. I actually thought Jasmine was kinda subtle actually. It is Serafina that is kinda a mouthful but I love it regardless!

WDYT about Serafina Jade?
