For a boy, obviously.
Can't decide if I love it or hate it
mamansnet · 12/02/2020 12:11
I don't mind it but people might shorten it to Frank, which I loathe.
ScatteredMama82 · 12/02/2020 12:12
Love it
SpaceSharkTea · 12/02/2020 12:20
Love it for a boy!
Not overused too - I know of a little boy named Francis who is shortened to Fran and it's lovely.
georgialondon · 12/02/2020 12:25
I really dislike it. Just based on the sound
SoupDragon · 12/02/2020 12:28
To me it will always be a girl's name as there are two females with the name Frances in my family. I do know it's spelt differently for boys.
flooooomp · 12/02/2020 12:30
Love it.
ChelseaGirly · 12/02/2020 12:31
I like Frank. Not so much Francis
lunasunshine · 12/02/2020 12:33
Love it. It was my grandfather’s name (we called him Frank - which I also like) and my sister and niece both have the middle name Frances (after him, which I also love).
Whatsyourflava · 12/02/2020 12:42
Don’t like it. Gets shortened to Frank or frankie which I really dislike
PhantomErik · 12/02/2020 12:44
I love it but don't like Frank so wouldn't choose it unless I liked all likely shortenings/nicknames.
Nowayorhighway · 12/02/2020 12:50
It’s my Great-Aunt’s name. She is lovely but she’s also in her mid seventies so I just always picture an old woman .
Elouera · 12/02/2020 12:56
Agree with others that in my mind I see an elderly women- certainly not a baby boy. Yes, I'm aware the spelling is different. If you like it, go for it, but I honestly hate it.
emmathedilemma · 12/02/2020 13:39
Hate it
Pippilangstrumpfi · 12/02/2020 13:42
Love it! Francis is classy and cool.
Kittywampus · 12/02/2020 13:52
I like it, but I'm not keen on the nicknames Frank or Frankie
Lavenderblues · 12/02/2020 13:56
I like it. Good strong classic name.
The Francis I know is generally known as Francis. It is easy to say. Actually Frankie is a different name imo, and not shorter either!
TatianaLarina · 12/02/2020 14:59
Loathe. Geeky and uncool. Plus Frank/ie is awful.
ColumbaPalumbus · 12/02/2020 15:07
Love it and the diminutives.
mulkshake · 12/02/2020 15:39
Almost always shortened to Fran in my experience but I like it.
Mamabear88 · 12/02/2020 15:43
Dislike strongly
Darkpinkblue · 12/02/2020 16:19
Absolutely awful. Very weak sounding. Nothing redeeming about it
Whatsyourflava · 12/02/2020 16:26
Harsh S sound when talking about possessions
Eg that’s FracISSSS bag
Hopefully this makes sense
katy1213 · 12/02/2020 16:46
Too Catholic. Reminds me of holier-than-thou altar boys with hair greasily Brylcreemed by their rosary-bashing mothers.
Lavenderblues · 12/02/2020 16:51

How is that different to Miles' bag or James' bag?
DramaAlpaca · 12/02/2020 18:35
Francis is OK, but I can't bear Frank or Frankie.
