Thoughts on Talitha, not a huge fan of Tabitha but really like Talitha, nn Tallie

Just sounds like you're saying Tabitha with a speech impediment.

OnABeachSomewhere · 10/02/2020 09:27

Which syllable is emphasised? Is it TAL-ith-a or Tal-ITH-a? Either way, I much prefer it to the harder sounding Tabitha.

Kanga83 · 10/02/2020 09:27

I prefer either Tabitha or Talia (Natalia) but Talitha sounds odd.

Astronica · 10/02/2020 09:41

It's a nice name and nn Tallie is good.

user1493494961 · 10/02/2020 09:45

Not to my taste, far nicer names around.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 10/02/2020 09:49

I love it. I assume you're pronouncing the middle syllable with an Ee sound, as that's the way I've heard it before. Tal-EE-tha. Nice nickname too. Much prefer it to Tabitha.

As long as you don't mind having to correct people all her Life then go for it

LowcaAndroidow · 10/02/2020 09:53

I know an adult Talitha - pronounced TALitha like Tabitha - I like it. Unusual but not weird.

flooooomp · 10/02/2020 09:56

Really like this name.

caulkheaded · 10/02/2020 10:00

I know a couple. It’s biblical. Means “little girl”.

mnahmnah · 10/02/2020 10:06

In the Bible she was a little girl who died and Jesus brought back to life. So it depends if you’re ok with that link?

Nice babe though. I knew one who was Tilly for short

mnahmnah · 10/02/2020 10:06

Name, not babe! Ha

spiderlight · 10/02/2020 10:38

I know a lovely little Talitha, mostly known as Tallie.

Strugglingtoquit · 10/02/2020 19:48

I really like Tallie and Tabitha, so quite like Talitha

Onceuponatimethen · 10/02/2020 19:49

Know one (primary age)

Think it sounds weird - poor girl will constantly have to spell it

AndaLuciAnn · 10/02/2020 19:53

I like it.

Singingatmidnight · 10/02/2020 20:20

I know an adult one, it suits her. Much nicer than Tabitha.

Arseit · 10/02/2020 20:28

Gorgeous name!

Arseit · 10/02/2020 20:30

I always associate it with the fabulously glamorous Talitha Gerry:

Talitha
Gogolego · 10/02/2020 20:30

I actually quite like it. Love the nickname Tallie

Arseit · 10/02/2020 20:31

Talitha Getty FFS!

Wheresthebiffer2 · 10/02/2020 20:36

how about Aletheia ? It's also from the bible, and very pretty.

AGnu · 10/02/2020 20:40

I nearly used it for my DD but couldn't decide whether it should be pronounced TALitha, talEEtha or talEEta. I know one who pronounces it talEEta but she's from another country & I couldn't decide whether that was the more proper way of pronouncing it or if it was a local thing, or if an anglicised pronunciation was acceptable/appropriate... In the end it was too stressful so I went with a slightly more common name to avoid confusion!

It is lovely though. I do sometimes regret going with a safe option & not just picking my favourite pronunciation & sticking with it!

SoftBlocks · 10/02/2020 20:43

I like it.

Guacamole · 10/02/2020 20:48

I went to school with one, she was Australian if I remember correctly. Spelt Talitha and pronounced Tal-ee-thuh.
Quite like it.
