Thoughts pls. Sister is Ruby. We have a boys name and seem to have finally narrowed down our girls list to two...

Holly is a lovely, classic name.

I don't like the 'jaz' sound of Jasmine.

Whatsyourflava · 08/02/2020 18:31

Oh wow those are both really lovely names OP

I think I’d pick holly though as flower type names are quite popular now and Holly sounds a bit more unique

Whatsyourflava · 08/02/2020 18:32

Yeh the Jasmines I know have been shortened to Jaz
I actually like Jaz but something to think about if you don’t

Holly is really lobely

Peachbubble · 08/02/2020 19:42

Jasmine

Holly

I like Jasmine as a name a lot, but it will be Jazz, which I don't.

NoSauce · 08/02/2020 22:42

Jasmine. Holly is dated.

Tillygetsit · 08/02/2020 22:44

Jasmine. Prettier and I love Jazzy.

Peony99 · 08/02/2020 23:30

Jasmine. I wanted it for DD but DH wouldn't play ball.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 08/02/2020 23:39

I like them both but I think I like Jasmine better. Holly is a bit dated but i think it could be one of those vintagey names that come back into fashion. It just feels very Christmasy to me. All the Hollys I know were named to match sisters named Heather. I know multiple Holly and Heather sibling sets so that is also factored into my association but I still think Holly is pretty in a vintagey sort of way.

Jasmine seems spunkier and more modern.

Astronica · 09/02/2020 05:44

Holly.

I find Jasmine quite dated since it was very common in the 1980s and 90s.

mathanxiety · 09/02/2020 05:58

Ruby and Holly are a bit matchy.

I like Jasmine a lot and think it holds its own against Ruby.

Sootyandsweep2019 · 09/02/2020 09:03

I think they're both lovely. Could you use one as a first name and one as a middle name ? ( And on that basis I think Holly Jasmine goes slightly better).

Halloweenbabyy · 09/02/2020 09:06

Holly 💯

1066vegan · 09/02/2020 09:11

I think that Holly is more timeless. I used to like Jasmine, but think it's one of those names that's gone through a very popular phase and will become quite dated. Also not keen on Jas/Jaz which always seems to get shortened to.

Satsuma2 · 09/02/2020 10:24

I don't like Holly at all, very boring. Mind you I don't really like girls names starting with H , with the exception of Hazel, which I love. Of the two, I prefer Jasmine.

tinytemper66 · 09/02/2020 10:33

Neither.

SuperMeerkat · 09/02/2020 10:44

Holly. Jasmine is so chavvy.
