Sorry for the umpteenth thread on this. We keep seeming to settle on a name for DS 3 then a couple of weeks later both of us fall out of love with it.

Current shortlist is:

Kit Benjamin (Christian on BC) - I like it, but it's very short and wouldn't use full name at all really
Felix Benjamin love this but not sure it works with last name (think Fiona Ph - newsreader)
Barnaby Benjamin- love full version, not as keen on Barney
Gabriel Benjamin - can't decide whether I like or not.

Brothers are Seb (Sebastian) and Rowan. Not sure Felix works with last name but do love it (DH less keen).

Any thoughts or suggestions for anything we might not have thought of? (Discounted Jude, Ellis, Zachary, Max)

Thanks

My eldest son is Kit
Non”proper” long name just Kit. I love the name so much he was called it practically as soon as we knew it was a boy Grin

So I’d say they name obviously but Christian is nice however I don’t see the point of calling them that if you will only ever use a diminutive. Just call him Kit

I’m not personally keen on the others.

Thefaceofboe · 06/02/2020 09:32

I really love Kit OP, I would personally go for that. I think it’s the only one that sounds nice to say with the middle name too. X

NearLifeExperience · 06/02/2020 09:35

I like them all except Barnaby... but maybe that’s just because I’m old and watched a programme called “Barnaby the Bear” when I was little.

I like Felix, but if your last name is Philips that’s a bit of a mouthful!

Love Kit, but it’s usually a shortening of Christopher. Guess it could be a mane in its own right though, why not.

Gabriel is lovely, too!

Clangus00 · 06/02/2020 09:36

I’d say Christopher is more the long version of Kit, and a nice name in itself.

Whatsyourflava · 06/02/2020 10:04

Love Kit and Barnaby and Felix and Gabriel - not much help as I love all your names!! Shame you discounted Ellis as I really love that name, how about Eli?

Other suggestions:
Cole
Caleb
Seth
Otis
Eric
Otto
Miles
Chester

Whatsyourflava · 06/02/2020 10:04

Congratulations on 3 boys by the way ! Boys names are hard. Keep having boys myself and don’t get to use my girls name 🤣

albazavi · 06/02/2020 10:27

You're persuading me back to the love for Kit. I do like it a lot but not a fan of Christopher. Oldest son goes exclusively by Seb but he knows his long name is Sebastian for doctors etc and it would be strange to do Kit without a long version. And then the nickname has a different initial and would that get confusing?

... or am I just over thinking it?

I like Kit, but not as a stand-alone name. I think it works fine for Christian as well as Christopher. This probably won't matter to your DS as a child, but be aware that Kit is almost universally a girl's/woman's nickname in North America and other US-influenced places - short for some version of Catherine/Kathryn/Kathleen.

There's a Cornish name Kitto, which I think is normally short for Christoper - I'd think of using that if I wanted to use Kit but avoid Christopher/Christian.

I'm curious - you may have explained in a previous thread - but you have Benjamin as a middle name in many of your choices. Is it off limits as a first name?

Urkiddingright · 06/02/2020 13:26

Kit but I would use Christopher rather than Christian personally.

WaxOnFeckOff · 06/02/2020 13:45

Gideon?

EngagedAgain · 06/02/2020 14:14

I would go Christopher/Kit, definitely not Felix with a surname that starts with Ph.

userabcname · 06/02/2020 14:15

I like Felix Benjamin best.

SoftBlocks · 06/02/2020 14:21

Gabriel or Christopher/ Kit.

Lavenderblues · 06/02/2020 14:23

Christopher/Kit is lovely.

Otherwise how about Quentin (Quinn)?

bridgetreilly · 06/02/2020 15:08

I love Felix too. Oscar, maybe?

Peacefrog23 · 06/02/2020 15:13

I like Gabriel best x

Whatsyourflava · 06/02/2020 17:29

I think Kit would be ace as a stand alone name @albazavi and I think it works fab with sibling names

ThePolishWombat · 06/02/2020 17:34

Kit Benjamin is my favourite Smile

Seb, Rowan and Kit go quite nicely together

IckleBear · 06/02/2020 17:45

Otis? Silas?

yogo · 06/02/2020 17:48

I liked Felix until my mum said Felix my face again I'll lick his back.

Put me right off.

IckleBear · 06/02/2020 17:54

Otis? Silas?
I'd say Cosmo but it's a bit out there I guess

Flissmoon · 06/02/2020 22:15

Loooove Felix. I think it sounds fine with your surname.

Flissmoon · 06/02/2020 22:16

Also Gabriel. Gorgeous!

Kit a bit short/faddy/Rooney and Barnaby Benjamin a bit of a mouthful!

Naomh · 06/02/2020 22:19

Kit or Gabriel.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 06/02/2020 22:20

How about Kristian nn kit? I think Kristian looks nicer with a k and then it’s not a different initial?
I think Kristian Benjamin ph... is a lovely name.
