Ha! I've noticed that on pretty much any name thread that isn't about a more conventional name such Oliver, George or Jack, someone will come along and make a comment along the lines of it being a cat/dog name - which would be helpful if the OP said 'which of the names I am considering do you think belongs to a human or pet?' :)
Thanks to everyone else for their opinions :) Looks like Jasper is more popular. whatsyourflava Otto means 'wealth/prosperity' apparently.

Jasper is already taken. I've always had people tell me they've had a dog or a horse called Jasper. Then again somebody on here told me Dd's name was good for a cow!

Do people pronounce ‘t’s or ‘r’s in words where you live? I can think of several accents where Otto would be ‘oddo’ or ‘uh-uh’ (kind of.), and for all the English accents that don’t pronounce ‘r’, it would be ‘jaspah’ 😐

Jasper's great.

Otto is very German to me; if you have German heritage or a special reason for picking it, fine, otherwise I wouldn't.
